Cartridge testing - how to really know...

My advice would be to pattern your gun firing at least 10 of each make and go with the one that gives the best pattern. Recoil and cost doesn’t break clays, pattern does.

    Changing Guns - your reasons

Can't sell them as my son and son-in -law have designs on them when I fall off the perch.

    Changing Guns - your reasons

How long did you have your first gun? First clay gun was a Winchester 101 Diamond Grade Sporter I had it for 8 years. Was your second gun better or did you regret getting rid of your first gun?  Second was a Browning B325 Grade 5 Sporter. No regrets on selling the Winchester What was your...

    Strange Browning Choke

Agree with Will, measure them. I assume the extra choke was a genuine Browning DS as aftermarket chokes for the B725 from other makers use different constrictions.

Teague Tapered Choke Key - bonus feature

Or it could be that Browning produce their invector plus and DS chokes for steel as the aftermarket manufactures all use the same constrictions. They are all tighter than the original equipment although the Midas and Diana chokes (which are made by Briley) are tighter and correspond to the...

    Gamebore Shot Size

Wylye A bit sad I know but I did count them all. I was a bit surprised at the amount of small pellets but at least there were no large ones. I only checked because of this thread on pellet size as I was also told that gamebore used the continental sizes. I won't repeat the excercise. Didn't...

    Gamebore Shot Size

Having just opened up a couple of Gamebore Evo fibre wad 8s. The pellet count was 513 and 505 against the accepted figure of 450 pellets to the oz. The diameter of shot varied from 1.98 mm to 2.12mm so they are approximatly english 81/2s. Could it be that Gamebore do not check their cheap...

    excess lead

I have a B525 and find if I use Eley cartridges I suffer the same problem. I can’t comment on Eley cartridges loaded with plastic wads as I have to use fibre wads where I shoot. The combination of 3” chambers and back bored barrels plus fibre wads may also allow the hot gasses to leak past and...

    Low recoil cartridges - suggestions?

As Maddmatt says. Try Gamebore Evo's. I suffer with my shoulders (old age) but find the Evo's have low recoil and are clean burning.

    Gamebore evos

I can only give an opinion on 28g fibre wadded Evo's. I have shot over 4 Thousand this year and not had a missfire or had one stick in the chamber. I find the recoil is less than most other brands and are much cleaner. IMO a very good cartridge.

    Shooting without chokes

If you really want wide open patterns without the risk of damaged threads get an FAC and try rifled chokes. They are known to give slightly more open patterns than TC

    Yet Another E-Petition Needs Support

Having had to stop pistol shooting due to the ban I can appreciate some of the comments expressed. I would like to see the ownership of competition pistols reinstated but I’m not holding my breath. The modern politician is not interested in assisting the shooting community as it is not a vote...

You can shoot sporting practice on wednesday's at Catton Hall, Frodsham. Shooting from 10-30am. Normally has 10 stands available. 25 miles approx from Liverpool.I think it's £21 or £22 per 100. MikeB

    Anyone come across

Agree with Westwood. Try others, but I’m sure you will stick with the MK70 for sporting. They have normal sized bores and 2 ¾ chambers, and are a lot easier to keep clean (not as much leading). If you shoot plaswads the back bored MK38 is fine but they don’t seem to like fibre wads as much...

    Hello to all.

Just a few words to introduce myself. I have been shooting since I was a lad, progressing from live pigeons to clay pigeons, with the occasional pheasant thrown in. To some degree I also went down the route of many by spending more than I should have on guns, seeking the wonder weapon that...
