hmmm - good idea....

It was nearly to the picnic table... I was erring towards the lake.

(and yes - I work next to the window, so I can stand with my nose pressed up to it)

I just did that G.oog.le measuring thing and worked it out to the sheep with one black ear.

Went out into the field and the whole flock had gone! Useless!!!

So what d'ya reckon then Matt? Doable?
Well - I'm not a good enough shot to really analyse this - but looking out at that picnic table and imagining a standard crosser, edge on... I would worry about consistently hitting it with my set up (28g / half choke - I'd probably use a 6.5) - it is a long way away.

Find your office on g o o g l e earth and use the measure tool from the top tool bar to pick out an object at 90 metres, dead simple. Click on your office and drag the line out until you hit 90 in the measure window. Use it all the time for measuring work up
God i looooooove learning new things....thank you.

I am off to try and try it on a piece of land 'up north now'.....don't suppose it can work out how many houses you can get on it can it? (Standard size).

Using that tool - and assuming it is accurate - and then looking out of my window.

I would say the longest clay I have ever hit (and would consider it something consistently repeatable) - is about 65/70yds.  You can all judge me on my skill level, but I think that's what we see on the courses we regularly shoot.

In a coaching session with Ed at Grimsthorpe (*sigh*) - I think I topped out hitting them consistently at about 70/75  yards (belly on crow - variety of 28gr shells through half choke - distance paced and not measured)

I saw that as well...  and EJC has new bunds at the bottom edge since the satellite image.

If you measure the area, standard figure used in planning circles is 35 houses per hectare, but thats for a bog standard housing development.  Obviously a lot less if you're going upmarket.

I would say that anybody hitting such a target with any sort of consistency would be regarded as a cracking shot !  21g of size 6 shot will have opened out to quite a diameter at 90 yds leaving a lot of room for a clay to pass through. Will shot string come into play on this type of target ???   :) ..... Oopps :)   that's a cabbage for me then !

We need a Mythbusters type excersise

Mind you if you can hit that with consistancy, you should be able to nail, Richards extreme going away birds ;)

:santa:

These sort of things always remind me of wanting to tunnel in a swamp.  Sorta interesting but who really GAF?

but that is prolly just me, eh?

Or trying to construct a trans Siberian railway over permafrost using no sense methods!
