With all the doom and gloom on other threads at the moment, I thought this would be nice to share.

Nottingham and District GC is celebrating 50 years of clay shooting tomorrow. We opened in 1962 and are the busiest that we have been (certainly in the 5+ years that I have been there).

There are really exciting plans for the future and the Club is going from strength to strength.

I'd like to congratulate Carl (the ground owner) on his success and wish him all the luck in the world for the next 50 years :)

Good luck tomorrow Julsey hope you have a great day.

Happy Birthday :)

Hope everyone has a fantastic day tomorrow and look forward to the next 50 :)

Cheers,

Jon.

Who had the ground in 1962, I think I can remember his name. Come on you oldies, thinking hats on.

Angel.

Hi Angel,

I believe it was Peter Howson who opened the club back in 1962. He is still here with us in spirit as his ashes were scattered here after he passed away.

We had a great party, one of our members even brought up a fixture card from 1968 - one competition a month and instructions to phone in the case of inclement weather to check to see if it is going ahead.

How times have changed :)

Aye, it was Peter Howsom who had the ground before Roger & Sue Groves, Peter went on to be Mr Plaswad if I remember correctly. Phil*

The weather hasn't. I still haven't dried out from yesterday!

Yeah but we would never cancel a shoot Jan ;)

If you guys are mad enough to shoot in our blustery winds and torrential rain then we are happy to provide the rather testing targets!

Shooting at NDGC prepares you for pretty much any other ground :)

Jon.
