Had a less than brilliant day today. I was shooting UT in probably the worst light I have shot in very grey sky and cold. I only managed a couple of 19's and an 18. But what was doing my nut was I was shooting very well on  my first barrel just nothing happening at all if I missed with the first ?

I was advised by one of the regulars that I have a low gun hold. I hold on or just above the front edge of the lid, he advised a hold about a 400mm or so above that I tried but it was a no goer for me. Which prompts the question what is a good hold point? I have always got my best results from just on or just above the front edge.

The other thing that I have a question about is this. One of todays shooters was having several miss fires on his first barrel I think he had four in one round how many would be allowed before a ref would step in in a comp? Not a complaint just an enquiry

2 miss fires the 3rd is a loss.
I bet on the ones you missed due to bad light you lifted your head to see the target. once you do that there's no chance of a second barrel.

I think you could well be right , I was speaking to a good shooter just as we were leaving the ground and he said " with so many good first barrels you must be lifting your head "  my French is a bit thin but I think that was what he said :) I think he just thought my misses were down to head lifting more than anything else. He did say the light conditions were not good... we are so used to an azure blue sky down here but today was a bit like a dull day in Scotland!
