Depends what you are looking for. If you just want to practise then you could go to EJ Churchill or West London as for you not that far - ring first. If you want competition both Longridge and Kegworth are worth it but a distance. I'm not up to driving that far tomorrow and quite fancy Hickstead so I'm off there.
Will see you there then :) .   I should be there from about  10 -10:30

We've not left home yet and we are in Harrow but we should cross paths there - :)

Might pop out to hickstead in a min if the boss lets me as prior engagements have now been cancelled !

Only 10 mins drive if that :)

Well I did kegworth and stuck in a 98x120 in c class happy with that

Woohoo I actually won something!!!!!......

Cart Ridge just over the border in Cornwall put on one of their cracking shoots and the weather, targets and company were great. In our foursome Wez came out on top with 56/100, me 53 with John on 45 and Philip on 40. I had one stand where I couldn't hit a thing - very frustrating and you feel such a prat!

Anyway my 686E is back from a long sojourn at UK gun repairs for trigger lightening and I'm very pleased with the result.

The 682 has taken its place as the bottom barrel is very light at under 3 pounds and it should be back before I go to Bisley in August.

My kind of scores.  Also had the zero thing a few times.  When I've done this in practice and missed them all at a stand, I've shot a few more stands and then gone back to that stand, approached it differently and hit most of them, but of course you can't do that in a comp - you've had your chance.  I think I'm like Albert Einstein's definition of insanity - You keep doing the same thing over and over again and expect the result to be different!!

Ok Review completed & attached.

A huge thank you to Sian & Tony  who accompanied me round,

You both made it look easy   :thumb:  and great company too :)

Appologies if ive missed anything

Hickstead 100 esp  26/5/14

Stand 1

Chondel std o/r Blaze going  away

From a distance this looked like a blisteringly fast presentation  with the chondel traveling L/R and the blaze going away at arate of knots

Well think i started this one with a dose of beginners luck,  taking the  first L/R chondell and the blaze going away.

Cue happy Santa and on for a  98 ex 100

It didnt last though, with my confidence high, i was promptly brought back to earth, The chondel's  determined to leave me lagging way behind them  leaving me to take the remaining blazes, if i could    5 /10

Still happy ,one quarter of my last  score in the bag

Stand 2

Driven Midi  o/r rabbit

Driven midi, more like F1 midi , these babies were fast  (and small - well they looked small from where I was .)  and with a desire to make it to the safety of the pylons  behind me, Ansd they all made it

However for every midi that escaped, a rabbit tried the same on an R/L cross

They weren't as successful  though and i managed to nail 3 of  blighters ,     3/10

Stand 3

Curling white  o/r crow std

I thought curling was stones on ice, these were nothing like that, but came steaming in on a LR trajectory  at one hell of a rate of knots,  I managed to get three, but the others eluded me.  With the crows  swinging the other way, it was a busy stand, I managed to gain some santa points here and bagged 3 of each   (Crows are now officially  my most hated bird .)   6/10

So three stands completed  and i'm on 14 ex 30

Stand 4

quartering std o/r teal std

Teal?  . more like springbok, these baby's were stratospheric, blisteringly quick on the way up, and  dropping down like  scud missiles, coupled with the natural  tree cover / camouflage made them very difficult, near on impossible  to see, and tricky to hit. I managed 3

The quartering  Std's were slightly better to see,  but  left me  for dead. Again another 3      6/10

Std 5

Batteau /or Incoming std

Any hopes of a midway shift in form were cruelly dashed with this Batteau & incomer. The L/R Batteau looked deceptively easy, deceptive being the operative word, no matter what i did, they found the holes in my  pattern.

The incomer was for me, difficult as i didn't really have a point of reference to go on and I have to admit they were luck more than anything  I managed to bag 3    3/10

So half way round  and im on  23/50    3 up on my last 100 esp , cant complain, but still a long way to go.

Stand  6

std  Incomers sim pair

Std incomers, if that's standard,  those clays have been on something!,

They were almost like F1'11's breaking formation with full afterburner.

No two birds pairs were the same.

I watched in awe, as the gun in the cage ahead of me of me  took the two birds with one shot, And rapid realisation dawned this could be my first blank round.

So do you shoot early or late? I opted for late to see if i could nail the pair before they got too far apart.

Missed the first but killed the second. and then did it again

Two kills with one shot was to be elusive. But then it happened. Took the next pair with one shot, happy happy Santa,  sadly short-lived.,  I missed the first of the next pair, then somehow  nailed the pair with ,my second shot.

Unfortunately my attempt to repeat this feat of daring do, failed miserably, as the last two just gracefully barrelled in   6/10

Stand 7

L/R crosser  and going away.

On form for this one, not.  Got my *** handed to me on a plate.

The L/R's just floated majestically by untroubled as i failed either to get in front  or work out when to pull the trigger.  The going away was deceptive  too, it looked quite slow, but by the time i'd picked it up and given it some lead it was away,  managed to get one though  1/10    A very deflated Santa ,

Stand 8

Blaze incomer o/r going away white

Set in a gully,  the incomer was  a 45 trajectory heading down to the floor, whilst the going away was making no bones about wanting to get away  travelling  up the gully at a fair rate

Managed to get 3 of the incomers, but the going away's must have been practicing escaping, as many sailed by, untroubled by my  attempts to sink them   5/10

st 9

Missed my board for this one,

All i can say is 3 /10   bitterly disappointed

st 10

Std curling o/r crow midi

Indeed it was, but they missed the bit about them being in the next county,  wow were they far away

Alli can say is not enough lead or  gun movement,    a very poor 2/10

So all traps completed ...

Initial thoughts,

A fair and well put together layout,  some easy ones, some very hard,

Lots of deceptive ones  that i need to learn to read better

I came away feeling very happy, and would happily go again,

Total score 40ex100     Cant complain  on only my second 100 esp

:santa:
