Well we did pick the short straw, and yes it did rain pretty much all day, but to be honest it was manageable and didn't spoil the day. Certainly the weather during the day was nothing like the Biblical levels of rainfall that was being experienced at home in Essex. It was a long journey home with traffic chaos due to flooding everywhere, water spouts shooting out of drain covers in roads. Even buildings on Southend sea front were flooded.

Anyway, back to the shooting. I can tell you that you boys shooting on Sunday are in for a great day. A really good variation of targets and something to suit everybody, but you need to concentrate.

With only four previous attempts at this discipline, which I do enjoy enormously, with scores of 63 / 55 / 56 / 57, I was again thrilled to get a new PB in another discipline, shooting a 68.

Best score when we left was two people on 93.

Layouts : -

Essex Gun  -  15  -  weak start but the rain was the heaviest we had all day. Some tricky and clever targets and, as usual, Rose kept everybody on the ball . . . arrive late if you dare  :girldevil:

Forelock-Load  -  19  -  stepped up a bit here with some pleasing shots. Beware of the nasty battue, which looked harmless but caught out a few peeps

Hull Cartridge  -  17  -  acceptable score for me  -  again some cleverly set targets  -  another battue which I struggled with and from one hoop, a going away edge on bunny - ******* !

Simpsons  -  17  -  generally quite pleased with this layout but had a brain meltdown with two completely missed doubles on one hoop - also a pair with a green incoming quartering bird right to left and a blaze whizzing over your left shoulder from behind. No matter how hard people concentrated, the blaze always seemed a surprise when it came into view, and many missed it.

I may be very new to this stuff, but IMHO I think you're going to have a great day on Sunday, and I look forward to hearing your views.

Well done once again to Phil Moss and John Dyson for a great day.

Rose still at it then, she always had a nice word for me many times. "Taught me English"

Shot this today, had the admin (Matt R) on the squad, good to shoot with you today, thought it was a good course with a good variety of target, some tricky little buggers for sure, managed 22, 22, 21 & 24 for an 89, very pleased with that.
