I have no problem with anyone not liking sideplate we all have different tastes however do not think that the Eell is merely a 10 with some extra engraved bits the extra 6k (list) on top of the std 10 gets you a whole different gun. Obviously you get the engraving for those of us that like it then you get much nicer wood with different palm swell and different dimensions, the stocks are individually balanced in fact the whole thing is better assembled than the 10.

The Eell shoots totally different also the balance is so refined that the swing is very smooth and requires a more positive and committed technique in fact compared to the 10 it could be considered slow.

I have had many beretta Incl 4 dt 10s of various styles and consider the 10s hard to shoot and will take control of you if your not careful whereas the Eell is a more forgiving gun but you have to show it who is boss.

Ps, obviously i love sideplates and receive many comments of how pretty it is, no one seems to comment on me poor old 10 though

Thanks for that, I did believe that the EELL was cosmetic only.  So it has better balance then?

Oh yes the balance is totally different in fact it cannot be compared to a 10 in any way really. It is a much easier more forgiving gun to shoot. I can only only comment on trap of course.

See.  My SP 1 is a touch ass heavy.  I like the way that my buddys DT10 feels and they also balance differently (much closer to the hinge pin on the DT10).

What I intended to do, was add some weight between the barrels under the forend, to try and even it up and add some "heft" between the hands.

Then I will probably get a DT10!

Worth a try but remember this weight thing is not as simples as one would think. Weight at the ends handles differently to weight in the middle. Mine and darkys 11 have weight evenly distributed in the centre this gives a neutral feel to the handling this is why darky and i both have refered to a more committed meaningful technique required. Weight at the ends will have a different effect on handling. One i am not sure will be beneficial however one can but try, nothing ventured and all that.

Ps. This refined balance is why some guns cost a packet as it is a difficult thing to achieve.

I've put some weight in the butt of my 32'' 525 this last month or two, it balanced 30-40mm infront of the hinge pin, so slotted 4oz of lead in the butt.  Loads better now on the quicker birds and still good on the long crossers.

What are peoples views on the London forend on the DT11 and new 692. Personally I like the look of the London style over a schnable forend, but haven't ever shot with one before?

Quite like the idea of a london forend. I dont really like shnables as I have always found them an odd shape and a bit skinny but my trap forend is a little too fat for my girly hands. Seems like a London is an excellent middle ground

I like the look of it, I see some other countries are still getting the DT11 with a schnable on the sporter, it must be just the format that GMK are importing them too with the London.

Yeah, the old 686 from years ago had them, so do some of the 687eell's i think. In the previous Perazzi post in shootbay they were refered to as a parallel foreend.

On the subject of Forends...

I get the Schnabel...I have one.

My buddy's DT10 Sporting has a different one, Beaver tail I presume.  So..what is the difference between a Beaver tail and a Trap type forend?

Are the ones with the thumb ridge along them, trap ones...therefore thicker to accommodate the thumb ridge bit...thingy?

I said that to someone the other day! He said the one with the "ridge thing" (as we would call it) is actually a "semi beavertail" by all accounts! At the end of the day I like the "ridge thing" me-self, and I don't really care wot its called! :laugh:
