Was Mr Borley still using that old Nikko?

Errrrrr.........can't answer that as I have no idea what one looks like? If it looks like a Browning then yes........... probably !

I did note that Mr Boden was shooting an SC3 Perazzi.

Yes the Nikko does look a bit like a Browning mate. Mr Boden has had that SC3 for a long while too, well pressuming it is the same one he used back god knows when!

The first time Peter Boden ever turned up at a selection shoot, he entered at 11 o'clock on a saturday morning [southern Counties] and shot 96. From that day to this all selection shoots have been pre-squadded. He was using a B25 C3 Mick Grinnall special.

Mick Grinnall who traded out of Stourport had an affection for classical Browning Trap guns and ordered a dozen C3 [long before custom stocks so they would have been standard] The only way you could distinguish was an italic M Grinnall inlaid in gold on the top strap but they came from the great era for B25 production in the seventies. The question is where are they all now?

Blimey Fred I've never even heard of one, let alone seen one! I wonder if Pete Boden still has it? I guess they are all locked in gun safes somewhere!

So ... Mr 40up am I too understand that you have settled on Bob Braithwaite as your final answer ?

Not sure how a poll would work at this stage but once we have a few definitive answers from folk then maybe we will need one to decide an overall winner.

A very difficult question to answer as the demands of the various trap disciplines vary considerably and I can only really comment on DTL as I don't have any experience of the others. The best DTL shooter, without doubt, was John Stafford. He possesses a visual ability that most others do not and that gives him a considerable advantage. On his day (which was most days) he was a vey difficult guy to beat.

I've been lucky enough to find myself in a few shoot offs with John. It's a shame he no longer picks his gun up.
On his day (which as you say was most days) he was impossible to beat, he was a machine with nerves of steel.

However on rare occasions many years ago I have beaten him in competition at ABT (but never at DTL). But they were the days when I could actually shoot a 90+ sadly those days are just a distant memory at the moment  :)

Blimey Ian, sounds like we are all in that sort of position these days mate! Is it that we are all getting old or are those targets just being made so hard that even the top boys are having problems? I wonder how Bob Braithwaite would do with the current ABT and OT targets, is Ian Peel having any problems?

Les

Cant speak for you mate but I think its just a case of getting old and knackered :)

Seriously though I think maybe some people can sometimes just lose the hunger and maybe get a bit complacent.

No question at all in my mind that both OT and ABT targets are harder now so that's also a factor.

Mr Peel still puts very good scores in although to my credit he and I both shot an 89 at ABT recently, I was quite chuffed :)

Good for you Ian!!!! However if Mr Peel hit 89???? He is a man who has shot 200 straight at ABT as far as I remember, how hard has ABT become one must wonder?????

Bet he wasn't !!

That said high 80's seems to be his average for current issue.

Just randomly checked the '71 yearbook Les - Bailey and Braithwaite both shot 2200 OT at an average of 93%. We only have one shooter now above 2000 targets and two can match that average but not both.

Bailey and Braithwaite would have shot BLACK clays.

I was starting to wonder where you had got to Fred! Yes black clays, I remember my first DTL shoots, all black clays back then. So who are the two current guys who can match Brian and Bob these days Fred?
