There is a good train service from London out to Brookwood which is the station for Bisley so will cater for Stanstead or Heathrow.

The problem is then down to the legal issue of whether a 20 year old can carry a shotgun on public transport without supervision.

Perhaps best to break down and carry in a suitcase in any event.

Brookwood station to Bisley is probably a 3 or 4 mile taxi ride at most.

I have looked at the legal position regarding shotguns and it appears to me that anyone under 15 has to be supervised by someone aged over 21 so the original poster should be ok.

How do you stand with a firearm on board public transport, do you have to notify them or anything?
They can get stroppy so as a 20 year old alone ....I would not go for that option.

BASC has been tackling them as there was an attempt to ban all firearms on trains. It has gone off the radar at the minute.....but not gone away...!!

Robert after a quick scan I think that it is 17 yrs for shotguns.

Do you know that there is nowhere on either BASC or Cpsa site where you can click to see the actual Firearms Act .....or info about ages......!!

We have massive websites and important info is just not there...!!

BICTSF website is even worse now than it has been for years..... Try finding the OT selection shoots!!! You can in the end the long way around......but the simple way??? Not a chance. The selection shoot dates and majors should be under the discipline headings.......!!

Well.......you just cannot get the staff these days

Thanks very much guys for all the helpful information !! I have nothing booked yet so if I fly into heathrow would it be far from heathrow to Bisley if I was to get a taxi or would I have to get the train ?

I would really advise contacting the ground, they should be able to advise on best travel options and may know of other shooters travelling in that they could put you in touch with to share travel expenses.

You never know and it's always worth a call or email :)

Heathrow to Bisley in a London cab will cost an arm and a leg - the train will be very much cheaper.

Its about 21 miles or thereabouts but I expect you would be charged a return fare.
