Help me please.  I am thinking about booking the Compak at Garlands on 29th March through the BICTSF site.  I have joined the site as required and then went to have a look to see what times slots were left etc because I may wish to shoot the ESP held on the same day.   I cannot seem to view bookings before booking so to speak.  I don't want to book, pay and then find out timing is all wrong.

Can anyone shed a bit of light on the booking process.  Do you fill in the booking, say you are going to pay and then get a chance to look?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Sian,

Had the same issues, it looks like they don't have the facilities to book slots (Big miss on the web design there)

I e-mailed the Admin in a hope they allocate a suitable time on the day requested for Alex and I.

Not seen any squad lists yet either

Thanks Eddie - that is not clever if that is the case.  One up to the CPSA in this instance as you can see on their website what slots are available and whose in what squad.

In international shooting and BICTSF selection shoots it is not normal to choose your time to shoot or who with - this is allocated after 2pm on the day before the event when entries have closed. I'd expect your rounds also to be interspersed throughout the day to give equity of competition.

I can appreciate that, international events etc, but this being a UK compak, it should be possible to plan ones trip a week or so before.

I'm sure the recent one at Barbury was pre squaded.

Thank you for clarification - just makes things more difficult when trying to shoot the two shoots on the same day as we would usually like to do.    Perhaps not for me then as I like shooting with the old man and I actually like knowing things more in advance than that.

It's the English Open, GB Selection shoot and European team cut-off so conducted quite seriously. You can't choose when, on which layout, with whom or which peg. A different level of shooting.

Actually when it comes to it I could shoot without the old man so as to be taken seriously and I am not looking to choose peg blah blah blah - I just like knowing timings a bit more in advance for travelling, planning etc but that's the way it is so no problem.

Only the first squad time is known and that is decided by the Jury. After 3pm the day before you can ring and know your start time, the number of squads accepted [no entries on the day] tells you the length of the day.  You should take part but forget about casual side events. The standard will be constant and you can use these selection shoots to measure your progress. See how many places you need to make up to get into the ladies GB team.

Yes measuring my own progress is definitely of interest and attending a good course setting is always a pleasure but I am not interested in making ladies GB team even if I were remotely good enough which I am not.

You say you are not remotely good enough. You don't have to hit all the targets, only beat the other competitors.

Yes and not even all of them just some of them.

Therein lies the problem I am not yet at a good enough level to beat the majority of those who will be shooting, a statement of fact.

That may be your opinion. Low expectation is a good platform to start from. Your rivals are under greater pressure, you only have to take part. It may well be your first selection shoot. Onward and upward.

40UP I always dream of doing well just the reality is different.  I have actually participated in a few selection shoots just for the experience of it.  In any event there are so many shoots to consider over the coming season so I will see what the old man wants to do and go from there.

Your defo good enough Sian to post some good scores. As mentioned a great / different set up to the standard sporting approach.

Hope to see you there :nyam:

Does not seem that you always have to wait for the last minute to know what is going on:

Taken from St Dial's Facebook page:

Squad Lists and Times for this weekend's BICTSF Fitasc Sporting Qualifier will be available on the website from tomorrow (Wednesday)

Spaces still available, please ring 07850 854016 to book in if you haven't already !

Possibly as well, as Allison will get the participants list for the Garlands Qualifier a week taken from her email:

"We will be sent the list of competitors in the week leading up to the shoot so we can squad everyone. "

I may know when I shoot and with whom (and can't believe she would not squad me with Tony) in advance.

:girlcrazy:

Hmm, let us know if they don't use the random squadding program supplied for that purpose. The only deliberate squadding that I've seen was for parent and child.

sian you will have plenty of time to shoot both , the way the squad times are worked , i will probably squad up the week before and show it all on our website so everyone knows whats whats , remember it fun !!!!
