As above really. Thought the ground itself was nice, the staff and Mike very helpfull/friendly. A 4 day shoot where you KNOW you are massively exposed you do not put a load of slow, floaty targets that are up in the air for ages before they get to you.

I though largely the targets were a bit repetitive and dull, and few needed a real gap. Lots of floaty stuff and 1/4ing aways pretty much covered it. And next time if they can tell he target setter that the sun rises in the east, and sets in the West that might save a few burnt retinas.

120 birds squadded will never be shot in 2 hours, so dont base times on it. Finally I dont wats to be looking at 4 birds when Im shooting my 2, this happened both on sporting and sportrap and is totally inexcusable.

Id happily go back to the ground but not if the targets stay like that.

And another thing, where exactly does it state in the technical rules for sporting that you have 10 seconds to call for the target? Martin Elworthy was shooting stand 12 in front of us, shot the first pair and stuck his barrels in the ground when loading, stopped to clear the mud and the ref pipes up "time shooter"

Even worse the stand clearly contravened the rule stating the ref must be able to see the shooter on the stand. It was clearly not the case the ref could see as the rest of the squad had to tell him that the shooter was clearing a barrel obstruction!
To be honest I don't know either ... if you read booklet 5 it states 15 seconds ... but I may not be in the know! I really felt for the squads on the Thursday morning and also Saturday afternoon - the wind really battered the clays, and the scores showed it. Blooming Welsh weather!

Why not keep shoots like this for AA and AAA only and over one day.
Actually I agree. A championship is there to find the best. End of, in my book. Muppets like me shouldn't be allowed to go. However, back in reality, see my post from the gunsite thread. Economic reality will dictate how this works..

You were seeing 4 birds because you were still arseholed from the night before.... :p

Now that's not a bad compromise... the CPSA still get their moneys worth, and the 'elite' shooters get to compete on a level playing field.

Edit - given the weekends result, could you include AA in there as well?

Make it the sunday, not one can say they are busy then! Would be the fairest way to see who was the best on the day/weather.

I agree mate but won't happen. Then the regular working guy loses his Sunday spot. Thats why euro n world fitasc are the titles people want 4 days of shooting everyone out in the elements. Fairest way

Ben

What about making the regional shoots qualifiers for a one day British Open?

What's the point? That's all well and good for a sport which people want to pay to watch, but who'll give a toss about a British Open just for the elite?

I meant top so many from each class, from each shoot.

Sounds like another failure at a big event with lots of unhappy campers glad I don't waste my time with these things anymore!

Been ripped off by the CPSA enough times, had a lovely relaxing weekend and came home with a beautiful hamper and 400€ in my back pocket in winnings.

Lovely relaxing can't think of anything worse than slugging up the welsh hill side like a sheep and shooting another sporting shoot!

Optima - Are you saying Fuzzy quit and gave up????
No No fuzzy was there till the end,but others certainly did including internationals!

Like the picture of my son Sam Green! Do you have any more that you took? Wish I could of been there to see everyone shoot. Sam's Dad.

For anyone thinking of re-shooting the stands at Fauxdegla, check out the post in the Sporting section
