I put my empties in the bin - but -

Why have competion guns got ejectors. You can use the ejectors and pick the empties up afterwards and put them in the bin.

Put the bins in front of the shooter - this helps, not to one side or the other.

If a semi spits shells the other side of the rope or other barrier they cannot be retrieved.

you ever shot sporting using a non ejector i did for 3 stands drove me nuts gave up and switched to the old faithful

I have an OU with ejectors,  yet i manage to catch and bin my carts.... ,  on the odd ocasion one does miss the bin,  (because its no where near the stand)

I make sure its picked up before i leave the stand.

Your a guest on some on elses property, leave it in a way you would like to find yours.

Nope. But they must be able to develop something between the two.
with ejectors is fine just some numpties need to learn how to coordinate their hands

There is the same one tw*t down at pilford that does this, I just kick them back at his legs.
i think there is more than one at Pilford unfortunately they think they are still shooting pheasants somewhere....can usually tell them from a distance there mount being to chuck the gun into the shoulder from waste height and then call pull...!!!

as for auto's thgere usually loads of casings on the floor when we walk upto  a stand so we simply pick up and bin as many as we shoot on the stand before we shoot.....simples!

There are quite a few at Pilford. There are quite a few everywhere.

I am one of those who believe that ejectors are completely superfluous on a clay gun. Extra expense and complication in manufacture, something else to go wrong, and frankly the "twiddle the gun over and demonstrate your ejecting-into-the-bin-skills thing is a dented barrel waiting to happen. Quite a few O/U ejector guns have a little resistance just before the ejectors are tripped; this can lead to a need to help the barrels downward which needs both hands...

I use an auto, and I try to pick up those empties that are likely to get underfoot. I don't chase the ones in the brambles and bracken, and I try not to get in the next shooter's way.

There is an element of "reasonable" that needs applying here.

It gets me when O/U shooters do this and I dont see why they do. My farther does it and it drives me crackers, I dont know if its because he thinks thats what the markers/scorers are there for, or wether its instinct from game shooting and picking up after as with game shooting you reload and ready for the next bird! Either way I think its wrong at a shooting ground.

When it comes to semi-auto users I dont have so much issue with them as if you are at a busy ground you dont want to have to to wait while they tidy up after!

But maybe a £2 donation to charity would be good for the tidying up after them for SA users.

The other thing that gets me is those who seem to think OU users dont do it and all the mess is caused by semi-auto and pump users. If I use my SA or pump I always pick up my emptys.

Its my pet peeve. We arent talking about the oddone or two missed but those who just drop them all stand after stand. Its a safety hazard if you slip on one even more so with a loaded gun.

Saw a right plonker at the first round of the CPSA Premier League at Churchills. You know the type who curse every missed clay like they are a shooting god and that never happens. Missed the last pair, huffed, turned around and as walking out of the stand threw his spent cartridges over his shoulder in disgust out onto the grass over the safety line. I was hoping the ref was going to screw up his scorecard and throw it at his feet.

Had one today,  youngster & responsible other..

dont even get me started....

Unless your shooting a semi, it should be mandatory to pick up your spents.   (even with a semi, you sould be able to retrieve some)

If it was down to me running a shoot, you'd be asked to pay a £10 deposit for cartridges.  count the right amount back in after a shoot, and you get your deposit back...    less would be pro rata off your deposit

Shoot a semi, and it would be a £5 cleaning up fee ..

Thats it I have had enough of your Semi Auto bashing, the Builder comes tomorrow to remove my bloody chimney !

It is amazing the power of a good forum!

On Tuesday Salop Sniper's Father came to shoot at Hodnet.

Obviously he had read his Son's comments, he shot , ejected his cartridges over his shoulder and then when he had finished he picked everyone , plus others up and placed in the bin.

A little later Salop Sniper came along and whilst waiting he picked up every loose cartridge that was lying around.

Hamster,

No, I am serious.

It takes literally seconds to pick up eight or ten spent shells with a magnet.

Most stands are not overgrown with brambles, and I am sure if you knew the penalty for dropping cases was a pair lost , you would soon mend your ways.

You rarely see cases spat around on Continental shoots.

I agree that the British are very poor with regard to littering these beautiful Isles.

Problem is the only 'Forum' that I can recall came in a plain brown envelope !

Before any of you whippersnappers ask, suffice it to say it was on the top shelf in Newsagents.
