Top man Adam, handled England team captain well last year, threw in some latin for the speech. Hails from Wombourne, a common hunting ground.

Don't tell him that his head won't shrink for weeks :))I suppose Staffordshire does have some reasonable shooters ;-))

Winnings to my ParalympicGB fundraising ??????Michael might be dragged out for it. Although he reckons he retired 'again' from OT. He hates it!!Glen........beware Claudio's OT targets are proper ones ....they are tough and only for the brave /wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-cool.gif/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-cool.gif40UP thanks for the invite (and Michael got lucky /wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-wink.gif) I have to let him win ever now and then /wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-cool.gif

Been checking - Maxum seems a top 10% man when he turns out. Should be good for ZZ, I'll give him a lift. Shoots at hodnet so a man of good taste. I've booked a lesson next week with Duncan. Looking forward to it. Thinks - he could be a good man, how about some sporting? Once saw him enter the English Open Double Rise [the only time] yes he won it.

We seem to be missing the point here, Yes, to all you hotshots the extra 4 grams will make all the difference but I would sumise that just the recoil fatigue alone would negate any gains from a bigger payload for the lower class shooters. Not to mention the poor second barrel target acquisition due to a thumpier load, as the lower class shooters WILL be letting rip with both barrels most of the time!

Because OT shooters often chop back and forth between 24gm and 28gm [uT/ABT] we seek out a low recoil 28gm such as DTL300 otherwise the shock of change as you say is too great. When I dabble in Sporting I use 24gm to 30yds [40yd face on] and my 28gm beyond that. Say 3 boxes cheap, 1 box best.

Haven't started yet but dont mind if I do /wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-laugh.gif Chin Chin /wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-kiss.gif

Hello Mr Presley, I'm off my speciality here. The use of specialised cartridges for any target up to 30 yds seems irrelevant as any choke, shot size and pellet load are all effective. Beyond that choke starts to become relevant, then shot size and finally number of pellets.By the way, are you and Glen working in relay?I'm spouting the above for a wider audience, ELVIS, don't think I was singling out your son he seems to like a good discussion.

Nothing to do with the puppy,i just don't understand why 24grm are not as good as 28grm apart from the obvious.I shoot 24s at all clays ot abt fitasc esp skt zz and have hit em all (not in the same round)don't know what my gun is choked prob,half/half. 24s were designed for OT, i thinke one of the hardest targets you can shoot?Like Glen,i think the more lead the better but 24s still do the job. I'm not good enought to chalenge anyone so don't bother.

Oh yes you are Elvis /wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-wink.gifComon/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-wink.gif/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-wink.gifI have not read all of this thread.....I only read the lets have a shoot challenge bit. I do not mind what cartridge we use......21 - 36grms but I draw the line at 40grms/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-cool.gif

Looking forward to it. Thinks - he could be a good man, how about some sporting? Yes Duncan is a very nice chap and a great shot, you can't go far wrong under his tuition. A round of sporting at Hodnet any time would be great. See you at the Cheshire Shield shoot maybe.

Back to the plot please, Kath asked for recommendations for OT. I like RC, Clever and I used to love Express Supremes.Express World Cup /wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-frown.gif/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-frown.gif/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-frown.gif No thanks anyone else noticed how they give you a headache?

Thanks Salopian! Got some 24gs 7.5 plastics from Swillington Shooting Supplies just before New Year. They are their brand but apparently made by Eley, could be Blue's? I'm not sure but gonna use them tomorrow for 100 Double Trap, see how they go!Bang probably! /wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-laugh.gif

I agree with everything you say Salopian. I use RC and Clever when abroad - there are no British brands. I used to give Marcus Iddon stick over the loss of 24gm Supremes - answers are Excel are the same and you couldn't load then now, the components aren't the same. A rummage in the bins at selection shoots shows VIP the most popular with Red Shot on the rise. There are more Pro-Ones than you expect but they disappear on sundays probably showing some form of female support. World Cups are the only one I've taken 475 back to the dealer - I thought my fillings would come out - when it says 1500fps they mean it.

To summarise those shot tables for Kath – all UK brands 7.5 shot means 7.5, all Italian brands 7.5 means english 7s.Now to put the stoat in the dovecote: because the number of pellets is proportional but the loss of energy is greater for smaller shot sizes -AT 30 YARDS the striking energy of 28gm 7s is the same as 30gm 8s.

Whilst I am only just really getting into OT and loving it, I will not be using 28g when I start to shoot registered events because if the main body is shooting 24g, then I have to be able to compete on a level playing field. I for one will get little satisfaction out of a reasonable score if the only way of producing that score is with a different load. As with any sport, learn until you gain the standard. using different loads in the same event is a bloody stupid idea.

I agree Phil. If/when I try OT again, I still have some 24gm Fiochhis bought for just that purpose. No point in 28s IMO
