Clay Shooting Bucket List

A bit of fun, what's everyone's clay shooting bucket list? What's your goals? Where are the places you've never shot (yet!), the events/competition's you would love to go and shoot? The gun(s) you aspire to own? The shooters you wold love to be squaded with and shoot beside? What do you want to win? Or just what would your dream be, no matter how unlikely...

1. Shoot a world FITASC in the US, shoot as many of the side events as possible, see some of America.

2. Shoot a World Sporting in the US, shoot as many as the side events as possible, see some more of America.

3. Shoot a US National FITASC n the US, shoot all the side events, see even more of America.

4. Shoot the Grand Prix at Dorhout Mees.

5. Shoot a World English Sporting in England.

6. Make the Scottish FITASC team for a home international.

7. Visit the Krieghoff factory and shoot at their indoor range.

8. Shoot at the South African FITASC Grand Prix.

9. Finish top ten in my class at a British Open Sporting.

10. Finish top ten in my class at a English Open Sporting.

11. Shoot at a European FITASC.

12. High Gun at a Scottish team selection sporting shoot.

13. High gun at a Scottish team selection FITASC shoot.

14. High gun at ANY English sporting/FITASC registered shoot.

15. Shoot as part of a team at one of the big charity flush shoots i.e. Lamton ect.

16. Scottish champion at either sporting or FITASC.

17. AAA class English sporting.

18. A  class FITASC.

19. Shoot a big FITASC shot in France.

20. Win my class at either a British or English Open.

ruddy ell mate that's one heck of a list, I hope you get through it.

as you know I like a good list but my one on this occasion is very small. I have shot everywhere I want to, entered every major I want to. Have owned all the guns I aspired too. Have won county champs and shot for north of england a few times and won comps against very good shooters. I know many top trap shooters of note and can call many personal friends. So list is .....

an England badge for OT or ABT but not this year as I am having a well earned rest

Dream Guns I was discussing with a mate the other night and came up with the following:

Clays: Perazzi MX8, Game: CG Forum 20bore, Spare: Benelli Semi-auto.

Having not shot a great deal I have many places to try. I made this list at New Year of places to visit and shoot this year:

E J Churchill

Owl's Lodge

Podimore

RBSS

Weston Wood (DONE)

Westfield (This Sunday)

Gunsite (DONE)

Hornets (DONE)

No aspirations to win anything but I would like to be shooting 70+% regularly. Having read some of the comments and spoken to people about Essex Masters that is certainly on the list for next year.

Hmm, tricky one.

I'm lucky enough to shoot a K80 and there's nothing better than that gun wise although a high grade Ljutic would be nice.

I shoot with some pretty decent folk so no upgrade required there.

I've been lucky enough to shoot for my county and country although having dual nationality I would very much like to represent the other side too.

I too would like to give the MSZU a try, if only to see what it's like. I'd also like to shoot in the US a little more than I have as the best there make us look like rank amateurs. 

More than all of that though, i'd like to find a solution to my trigger freeze problem that sees me completely unable to pull the trigger sometimes.

I have no bucket list I'm afraid! I have no shooting ambition at all, other than get out there now and then, break some OT targets and generally socialise with other shooters, oh and to have fun!

Sorry about that, but that's how it is for me these days!

Les to be honest my understanding of a bucket list is list of things that any individual can do before they die none of which is based on ability to compete at a certain level. If we set our buckets lists as a set of objectives based heavily on our abilities... that is going to lead to much angst. A bucket list of shooting activities need not in any way involve ambition or need the person achieve a certain level. I like you list it looks like fun and something you will enjoy doing...  not live the rest of your life feeling bad because you don't have the ability to tick certain things off the list

If we set our buckets lists as a set of objectives based heavily on our abilities... that is going to lead to much angst. A bucket list of shooting activities need not in any way involve ambition or need the person achieve a certain level. I like you list it looks like fun and something you will enjoy doing...  not live the rest of your life feeling bad because you don't have the ability to tick certain things off the list

John, last year I had a long think about a great many things, including shooting. I came to the conclusion that shooting is part of my life and has been for decades, however there were some aspects of it that I didn't really care for. So I changed those aspects. I wanted to dump a lot of baggage and kinda go back to my roots, which I've now done. I'd always wanted to have a gun made for me, I now have that too, so basically I'm just happy with what I now have! All that is left is to carry on having fun as far as shooting is concerned! ?

Lucky enough to have ticked a few off that list in terms of Geography and class positions. 

Other goals are similar for rankings and team badges along with HGs in the future. 

For now its a busy calendar and the pressure to succeed never stops. 

I will not stop as long as I can afford to shoot in the pursuit of my goals.

I'd be happy to just be able to be in a team and represent my home county, which hopefully I may be able to do this year... just need to up my game and stick in some more practice!

beyond that, maybe win a county championship or represent my country? who knows? :huh:

I am with you on this...

None of the things i want to do bucket list wise (that are left) are results based... just things to do. I started off with quite a few things years ago and have done some and others still to do and it evolves as time goes on and things change (so some are things that i am pleased i have done / other are things i'd like to do)

Shoot English Sporting World Championships - Tick.

Shoot WMSG - Tick (see above event)

Shoot Skeet World Championships - Tick

Shoot NSC in Texas - Tick (see above event)

Shoot EO / BO in both ESK & ESP - Tick

Compete in USA - Tick, Tick, Tick (lucky enough to do multiple times)

Represent County - Tick, Tick (done in two disciplines multiple times)

Represent England - Tick

Shoot event @ Old San Antonio Gun Club, Texas - 

Shoot Poco Loco Event @ St Joe, Indiana - 

Shoot FSP World Championships - 

Shoot in Europe (European Sporting) - 

Shoot US Open (sporting & skeet) - 

100 Straight all the gauges at skeet once at least - 12, 20, 28,410, dbls, esk (done three of them - so much for not results based)

Having said all that given some of the other things i want to do in life and things i want to see - Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, Pyramids, Rome, Australia, Herculaneum & Pompei, Maldives, Hiroshima Nuclear Memorial Park, Koyoto Temples, New York 911 memorial, Visit Houston Space Museum,  watch TDF climb Alpe D'Huez  - these amongst other things i would pick doing over any shooting event as they are the bigger picture IMO.

I am similar to les as far as shooting goes which is what the thread is specifically about. Thirty years of very hard slog has left me somewhat tired and at times deflated. These days pulling the trigger for fun seems to be exactly that. I would if I am honest prefer to be either training or working my dog these days. If I can add a shooting related ambition to my list... I would like to improve both me and my dog to a level that "I" am happy with and possibly good enough to run in some working tests. For the time being a stop and redirect from a marked retrieve would leave me very happy
