I think you can learn things about shooting from everywhere.....you just need to have an open mind.....listen to the information being given....and see if any bits work for you. If you are unsure of how the information is delivered or you do not understand it.....then check it out with your own trusted adviser or coach. They should be able to explain clearly any info from videos that you did not understand clearly. A coach does not have to like another coaches way of working....but they should be able to explain the information presented for you.....and then you can decide after trying it....whether it goes in your own tool box.

As for guru....massive knowledge in shooting. Don't dismiss him because nursey missed giving him one of his pills ...you could learn a lot. He has an unusual sense of humour (just like me) and if you don't get it he is not right bothered (neither am I ).

Free speech....free world....don't get upset to easily peeps.

Try smiling first....and moaning second.....then life will be good

IMHO As the first response on the thread to someone who has only posted a few times it was a very blunt message to say watching videos isn't much good but didn't address the specific issue of the difference between quartering and crossing targets so could easily have offended the OP and derailed the thread.

A bit of helpful advice followed by your porn comment would have been fine I imagine and then taken as a joke.

Just goes to show....different people have different view on presentation of any subject......so lets chill. Explanations have been given by guru...

Move On

It's really too simple for words and shouldn't even need explaining; yes of course we all (by now) realise Guru's experience and eminence in the sport and all of us like a bit of humour but the fact is that he's long forgotten how to engage in conversation and let others decide the value and use of the advice.

Everyone can have the odd bad day or let slip an unguarded comment but you Guru do it every single time and it doesn't come across as humour, it comes across as petulant old age.

Simples, if its crossing, smash it with a little lead, if its quartering smash it with a little lead, going away smash it :spiteful:

But whether people like it or loath it ....it is his sense of humour....and he is as free as the rest of us to express it...even though some might not like it. So we can we just read it as that please.....it would make life easier.

I will send a message to nursey to up his dose

Yes I accept free speech etc, but just trying to answer his and others querry as to why certain posts get removed occasionally.

:fie:  If shooters on here wonder why I refrain from answer shooting related questions, its because some "experts" on here just want to pull my answers apart!

From what I can see about Hampster he is not only the resident authority on all shooting related enquiries but now I realise that he is also a fully qualified psychologist!    Or is it that he see's me as a threat to his social standing on here and just does'nt like me? :sarcastic:

Guru....check your settings...your posts come out in 'bold' text and ....to some people it may look like shouting.....if they do not know you well....even though i know you are not shouting.

...Just a tip

Cyril has been there, done that and has many T shirts in his wardrobe. How many of the keyboard warriors on here can say that they have put on shoots.....

Wylie valley under Cyril's ownership was the place to go to shoot a fantastic array of targets, why do you think that ALL his shoots were oversubscribed.

Cyril is quite correct about the video's, You'll only learn by doing, not watching on a 50in screen.

I have enormous respect for Cyril, yes he can be a grumpy bugger (sorry Cyril), but I will defend him and his right to speak out to the hilt.

I do have a question for the moderator who removed Cyril's original post WHY ????
We know all of this...he is clearly, VERY experienced and we could all learn a huge amount from him...if he would share it about! :)
Regardless of who he is, or what he has done, that doesn't give him the right to behave as he does, in SOMEONE ELSE'S FORUM; posting in the manner that he did (and often does), is fruitless, thoughtless and quite likely to deter new members...or old members even.

I did not hide his post, as the Porn reference was not an issue for me.

If he had had written the exact same post, but put some actual info or knowledge in there too...we wouldn't be discussing it.

Everyone wants you to post up responses...we want to know what you think, but there are a few ways to do that!

Just delete the thread..... its gone way off topic

It wasnt a very helpful reply. If you hadn't even seen the DVD then it was pointless replying to be honest, never mind a smart arse answer.

And this answer is.................

An opinion...?

Helpful...?

A insult? (Wanting a reply? No one like to be called a smart arse....just saying)

Peeps chill pill please........all posts could be read in 20 different ways depending on each persons style, sensibilities, PC correctness, time of day, time of life..... People's behaviour tolerance also depends on their make up and the make up of the person reading it. Some speak direct and don't fanny on....some go all around the hedgerows......this is life..........I could go on....

A suggestion that may help.........read the posts on here as if they are all 'friend not foe' and without added emotion.

Back on topic.

If it is crossing it normally needs more lead than a quartering target....but again depends on distance away or close..... so in reality video is nice....but.....until 'you' are stood facing what you want to hit....you cannot really assess it.

Guru - you know what you're talking about   and   some others feel the need to deconstruct.  Why do you care?  I certainly don't seem to get many upset here with my posts  but at other places it sometimes happens and I just blow them off.  I mean, what do they know and WTF do I care what they have to say?

I feel that I do others a service with the distribution of my pearls.  As I've mentioned before, if they've not the sense to appreciate that they are to be pitied not reviled.

Rock On, Dude!!!!

I understand this, what I was trying to work out was how to determine when to use the techniques he describes as from the video the target presentation seems the same when he talkes about crossing and quatering.
