Davidj asked a reasonable question i thought,, so not withstanding the 3 pages of waffle, opinion,and the odd bit of advice here or there,,, and hoping that some of the old hands might agree,, or add thier input,,

i have a small tale to tell about this 'quartering'clay. many years ago, (many!) i was also a bit confused,,,, surely a clay cutting away from me was going to need lead?

not a crosser,, which needs a gap , like skeet stand 3/4/5 ?y'see,  a clay is moving, so you HAVE to give lead? well,,,read to the end,,,,,,

i got to a point where it was worse than a 30 yard rabbit,,,, i Hated any 'going away clay'  trap or trench was NOT on my list,,,,,for years,,, so a sporting shooter took to helping me,, actually two People,,, now here is the "name drop bit" esp' for Guru, tinker et al,,,bloke was Mark Kalell,, and his new missus,, Sarah Kalell. she's a pom you may remember as Sarah Bailey,, from st neots area, both top of the game25 years ago,,,,,,,,

 so anyway,, .

 i asked him to help me on these away and 1/4 birds,,, and after he was getting a bit p!55ed off after a half hour,, he said,,   FFS,,, i can't see where your shooting at that,,, do me a favour and aim AT the bl$$xim thing,,, so i can see where you're shooting/ missing,,   lo and behold,,, AT IT ,, rifle style,,, 6 out of 6,  like a revelation it was,,,,,, will not forget that,,,,,

 the point is, as a newcomer to this game, it may help to get a bit of coaching,,, some basics are very hard to understand,,,,
