I've been investigated twice on income tax stuff as a regular chap on PAYE doing everything properly and it isn't a nice feeling - nothing was found in either case.   There are more people in the HMRC than our armed services combined, taking our hard earned cash and wasting it is far more important than protecting the country.

Not that I am sticking up for the taxman but a quick google shows HMRC are approx 56,000 and the armed forces just under 200,000. And of course not every employee is working on collecting taxes.

The taxman only comes a' knocking for the poor and the middle class  , if you're a big corporation or uber rich you'll be just fine.
