I think I have done this before (but a, I cant remember the replies and b, I cant find it)

I am getting disillusioned with my pilla panther mainly due to the comfort and weight and also the constant decision re lens colour so I want a pair of trap shooting glasses that match the following criteria, I am expecting Ed to reply but any suggestions from members

Lightweight and comfortable

Not a dominant bridge piece

Not interchangeable lens

Very very light tint (nearly clear) suitable for orange clays
After spending far too much on a new set of Pillas and lenses, and failing to realise any benefit, I found a set of the old style zeiss frames (the really big ones), and they are working out really well for me for about a fifth of the price.

As always....horses for courses...!

The same choices will not suit all shooters.

Exactly Jake, I too am not convinced in the amount of benefit (if any) of various lens, in the old days I shot better without and now the theory is as clear as possible. Also sick of yet another decision to have to make re lens colour. Also finding the pilla a little heavy and tight. These old frames of mine are really light and really comfortable (pity the lens's are a bit scratched) so hopefully Ed will work his dark art on them.

Ok

i have some very light weight frames of unknown make with close together nearly touching yellow lens.

My bro bought them for me in 86 when started shooting so they have sentimental value. There are a few scratches on the lens and i think there not glass but seem opticaly good.

The question is can they be polished up by a optician person and or could i have lens made for these frames, as i say there very good very light and comfy with very thin wrap around your lug hole arm things ?

Edit

found a make on them they are

kassnar alpha 7
Hehe, look what I found in my box of old glasses and related bits & bobs. Unfortunately when I opened the case it was empty, the frame broke and they were binned many years ago.

After a word with Edd a journey over to  Simons at Bristol and sorted.Spent a lot of money before hand wish i had gone to Simons in the first place. Purple works well for me but all see colour different.

I am pretty sure that Mike Taylor, optometrist at Teignmouth deals in Zeiss lenses for shooters if he's more convenient for anyone than Bristol.  As I have said before he is a shooter; target rifle and pistol, stalking and Clay shooting.  He certainly stocks Champion target shooting frames and prescribes lenses for them and tinted if required for rifle or pistol.  I have seen Zeiss shooting glasses there.

I'm booked in next week to see Mr. Goldsmith at Bisley. Hopefully I will be able to see targets more clearly afterwards.
