Quite, but I will never understand the constant attack on legally held firearms. It's what, under 1% (guesstimate based on loose figures I can find) of all firearms offences are related to legally held firearms, and that includes things like incorrect storage. FEO finds the cabinet unlocked, oops, firearms offence.
I can't follow the line of thought that increasing restrictions on legal owners helps in any way to prevent crime from illegally held firearms. I guess it doesn't, but it makes headlines that *look* like they're doing something to tackle the problem.
