Hammie I have finally changed my chokes, nearly five years in shooting and I have moved on to Teague flush 1/4 and a 1/2.  I had some good kills today at Garlands and Kegworth even my teal are coming on.

You won't hit any more clays per se, but you'll start to see where you are (hitting front or back etc) which will dial you in.

As Will says you'll notice better breaks, that in itself is sometimes enough to build the self belief that hits the next one.

And so onto 3/4 and full
Yes and no, it patently doesn't hurt the best shooters but realistically I think there has to be a point of diminishing returns for most, I used 3/4 and 1/2 for years but for the last few months have gone 1/2 both barrels for the majority of my shooting because I found as useful as the tighter choke was, it was becoming a nuisance deciding which target it best suited on a given stand (and I don't personally always take the obvious route). Half seems not to struggle much anywhere although I do still think tighter on occasion has a place too.

I used ½ + ½ in my old gun because I preferred the breaks I was getting and also so I wasn’t tempted to play with the barrel selector in between stands. New gun I had to buy flush fitting chokes to fit it in my safe so went for ½ and 3/8 for a change and really like it but leave the barrel selector alone. I do however see a difference between shooting plastic and fibre wad of the exact same cartridge with plastic producing noticeably better kills. I always shoot plastic now in registered comps but there are a few that are fibre only (Bisley and Beretta Worlds spring to mind). Do any of you use tighter chokes when shooting fibre as that seems to be the general advice?

Unfortunately I have about 3000 fibre 8's so can't try that for now. Will have a go with 1/2 and 3/4 next time I use fibres.
As with all cartridges the assumed pattern may not be.. fire a plas and a fibre into a pattern plate if you can. You may find they're similar. (Or vastly different).
