"Where did you get the squad info from?"

Hi Matt  -  haven't actually seen the squad lists, but you said previously that you were shooting Compak at 10am, and we got a call from JD to say that we were too and FSP at 1pm, so just assume we will be on the same squad.

Certainly hope so so we can cry on each other's shoulder !!!

Be very careful about crying on another's shoulder tomorrow. Almost certainly the tears will cause an ice fusion and you will spend the remainder of the shoot as Siamese twins, joined face to shoulder. Dignity lost.. Scores impaired.. Awkward period defrosting in clubhouse..

I'm shooting this Sunday. Staying in Braintree. thin layer of snow about.
Weather says snowing all night and light snow most of the day. Temperature -2, will feel like -9
Great.....

You're not kidding Ed . . . . . it was pretty brutal out there. Extremely cold, high winds, with snow and sleet driving sideways most of the day, right into your face on Compak layout 2, plus sloshing around in a mixture of thick snow and extremely slippery mud.

Tell you what . . . . . BIG respect to Mrs GG though, who is not shooting well at the moment, but stuck it out the whole day !!!

Had a blistering start on the Compak with a 24, which then deteriorated as each layout passed, to end with a 71 which, I have to tell you, I was bloody thrilled with in the end.

FSP in the afternoon was a different matter. After having thawed out a bit after the Compak, neither of us actually really wanted to go out again, but we braved it anyway but could only manage 2 x 16's, an 11 and a 13, giving a grand total of just 56.

To be honest though, considering we've not been doing it that long, and the fact that it was a GB Selection Shoot that we knew would be difficult but just wanted to experience it, and witnessing what targets even some well renowned top shooters couldn't hit either, plus taking the very poor conditions into account which at times the snowfall was so bad people were struggling to even see the targets until the last few seconds of flight, I reckon that was not such a bad day.

Certainly hasn't killed our spirit and, in fact, we still both feel that FSP is the best discipline out there, a bit pricey, but so enjoyable. Can't wait to do any of this bloody sporting/FSP stuff in the sunshine though !

So, next big event for us will be back to Hepworth Hall on Sunday 14th April for the Essex Masters. The Caesar Guerini stand will be there and this is where we hope to start on the road of Pam changing her current Guerini Essex to a different model. They will all be there for her to try, but we have a pretty good idea which model both she and I think will be good for her. Once that is sorted and had the gun fit properly corrected, she will be off for some lessons to help her back on the right track.

Nearly forgot, the week before that we are shooting the County Helice Championship at A1 club where I shall be trying to give our NicolaH a damned good rogering (score-wise of course) although I'm sure with her experience, she will actually be giving me a bloody good bitch-slapping instead. Not to worry . . . . . I can take it  :nyam:

PS : good to meet with Matt at HH , but sorry we missed meeting Ed Solomons

Well that was tough. Conditions and targets
I was beginning to wonder if the theory that cold cartridges don't shoot the same is true because nothing was breaking!
I shot 56 on the Fitasc. Started with a 7!!! I have never ever shot that badly before. Then I looked at the board and saw lots of people in single figures. But 7!!! I usually average 75 so it was hard to recover.
Didn't improve on the compak. 58 :( (
I think I need a bit of practice instead of competitions for a while because I just couldn't read some of the targets

Enjoyed the shoot but not the weather! Very hard conditions Saturday, pleased to get in the warm that evening.

Threw the fitasc away on my last peg (field) which I felt was the steadier layout but still happy given the conditions. The highlight was my first two; tower and hillside. Tough birds and really needed shooting!

Got the hump after a self enforced mistake on the compac cost me a pair on layout 2 (was still straight) and got the hump like a child and messed around. Think the cold had got to me as not normally my bag! Ended 92/3 I think but thought a monster 97-8 was there for someone.

Good work my Dyson.

Any final scores?
