Lovely weather! There was a good mix of targets, with some tricky stuff. A good balance with nothing horrible to report.

Unfortunately there was a dose of trap trouble again and a good few no birds, otherwise a nice affair. Good to see Fuz there.

I continue to be a messy shooter and failed to straight a single stand! 81 could have been 88 really. Oh well off to boozy BBQ now. :)

CSC3

4 words "skeet in the woods" Shot the whole course with skt and quarter apart from the l-r edge on quartering on stand 11 and felt over choked.

Trap problems, yep yet again. Started on stand 1 and the midi driven wouldnt come, next up stand 2 and the teal broke every other bird, had me simmering from the off

Ref on stand 6? white away/blaze quartering in from the right couldnt keep her trap shut. Missed first pair (over thought both) I hear "these are tough arent they" missed second pair (arsed of with the interuption) I hear " ohh really tough, what do you think?" to mrs fuz, my reply "I think you should shut the f**k up and let me shoot" Minced the last 2 pairs and get "well done you found them at last" Refs are paid to push buttons and record kills and losses, not to provide a running commentary.

Thoroughly arsed off I proceeded to miss 4 of the simo l-r straight after. Calmed down a bit walking back up the hill to stand 9 an uninspiring raff pair of l-r (10x10) stand 10, 9x10 on the dropping duck thing with a 20yrd l-r battue then straight on probably the most testing bird of the day in my view stand 11 l-r edge on fast quartering with a 10yrd r-l standard. Only the 3rd straight of the day here, so was quite pleased.

all in all every single stand had at least 1 sub 25 yrd bird and until I calmed down for the last 3 stands I had shot like a drain and still ended up on 74.

Now I can put my finger on why I dont really like Hornet.

funny enough i had the same trouble with a ref at kegworth today 2 stands to go, a simo straight going away bird with a close r-l crosser, i was aware i was on for a reasonable score, went into stand, killed ga bird then small front chip off the crosser which the ref saw and commented, pair killed try and kill em properly sir,i stood there thinking did he really say that !! as i wear both ear plugs and muffs i was still a bit unsure, any way next pair out i centered both, and hear came the next comment, thats better, by now i was fuming and thought shall i tell him to shut the f up,though best not, anyway missed next one out and last pair and heard oh no!! any way bit my tongue and dropped one on next stand aswell to finish on 91 and yes the ref cost me,should have said something but was que behind and didn,t want to go into last stand even more wound up than i already was     so any refs reading this shut up while shooters are shooting

I'm a great one for having a bit of a joke and a chat with the refs before and after I get in the cage, takes the tension off me and keeps me in the "red zone" but as soon as I get in that cage its business and I expect them to take it as seriously as I do.

I put my fiver in the pot and I want the best chance of winning it back and some, yes we do it for fun but the name gives it away, Competition.

Should have come to wylye
Probably right, however I am told and am utterly gobsmacked that my 74 held on for second, 81 won C apparently. was sure there was another couple of high 70's or low 80's out there

Two on 74 leading at wylye when i left i was in 3rd with a 72

You boys have no mental game! .!!!
your probably right there Glenn, shouldn,t let it get to you,and in fairness this is the one and only time i,ve come across this since i,ve been shooting most ref,s are very good and like fuzz says you can have a laugh and joke with them before and after you,ve shot, he probably thought he was helping me.

Man you guys have had it easy believe me! :)

No just saying if all you have had to put up with is a couple of comments from refs and a few no birds then you have had it good!!! It gets worse when you are a threat at a shoot....had it all docked targets, people trying to distract you between shots, bad scoring, no birds, blatant cheating, 20 minute discussions by squad members who are determined to argue with the referee over a decision when you are following them, shooters throwing and shouting about with their guns as they think they have a right to hit every target.....seen it all.........sometimes I wish I had a secret camera to show them it all rolled back.!

Most things behind me dont distract. Quads, other shooters but you are listening for the ref calling losses and this is all they should call!
I dont even hear refs nowadays think i am going def mind you ear protection whereby you can hear nothing does help big muffs and no mics on if you struggle with concentration.

If there is a target whereby you have just chipped I make a point of making a yes and a little fist punch and I always always check the card, that seems to put any doubt in the scorers mind to bed! .....you have to perfect it though so it is not too OTT!

If it is a first bird killed or sim pair and a no bird or something is called, I always check what the ref is scoring before i continue......have learnt the hard way too many times! :)

You'll need an offshore account soon Fuz! :D Well shot!

The ref on that stand is not peculiar to Hornet. She started at Weston and is a regular there. She is a bit dozy (but very pleasant). First time I saw her I couldn't help noticing that she had grass stuffed in her ears! She had no earplugs and this was her improvisation..

I routinely turn my earphones off as I walk into a stand..

Fuz, I wonder if your ability is not rising faster than you reckon. You are now a B class shot in waiting, so shoots are going to seem easier than maybe you expect? Well shot mate.
