Morning all,

I’ve just picked up a SxS from Malcolm at Pegasus whilst at the shooting show.

It’s marked Hudson and Spain.

Apart from the fact it was made by a company called Hudson and made in Spain (although Hudson doesn’t sound massively Spanish) I don’t know anything about them.

Does anyone know anything about Hudson SxSs?

Cheers guys.

There was a Hudson gun company in New York,
Some companies import guns and sell them under their own names

Thanks Martin. I’ll have a look into them and see if their style matches this.

Here we are.

It had a couple of thick ugly finishes on. Looks like it’s been painted and then varnished (the picture with the dark finish). So I’ve stripped them off and applied odies oil. I’m pretty chuffed with the finish.

The forend looks to be a different piece of timber as there’s more going on in the grain. I originally thought maybe it had had a replacement forend, but the number is the same on the barrel as the forend. Maybe a new stock?

The proofing is marked in metric, so wondering if it’s later than 60s/70s Garwood? The markings on the tube part of the barrel are very faint.
