Had a day decoying on wed, not that many birds were i was but had some good sport. My shooting pal did better were he was so we have a cunning plan for tomorrow.

Lucky ! Nothing but wet all week with us & the pigeons seem to be feeding on grassland atm.

I thought that today.. walked off 3/400 pigeons off spring drilling’s this morning... went back after Lunch and shot 6 for 10 cartridges... nothing would come in to decoys and all passing birds were very high... Best made plans!

Had similar  a couple of weeks ago.3/400 appeared on some rape when the weather improved pre monsoons.Left them for a few days ,then had an afternoon at them.Put a friend where I thought best etc.The only ones that decoyed were in one`s ,two`s up to four and those decoyed perfectly.The rest never came within 2 gunshots,I ended up doing the walking scarecrow bit but they cleared off never to return .Then the wind did a 180 and we were in a pigeon free zone !! .

Total bag ..8 ! with not a lot of missing done!

It was a pleasant spring day though,remember those ????

Personally, if there is no wind at all, I don’t bother... Without pigeons you are two blokes sat in a hedge having a picnic...

We got out at 11 despite poor conditions home at 7.30. it was a long hard day for 25 shot 21 picked. They didn't decoy well but we had some good shots and some poor misses and worked for the bag we got. We had lofters out, decoys out and a magnet. Most importantly i had a truly brilliant day with lots of laughs in great company.

Next time, take a small pair of secateurs and a pair of industrial gloves. Cut some of that bracken and just make the hide look less artificial, especially in front of you.  Has the dog had a respray  ??
