shot fifty sporting then had lunch, went back to a couple of stands we struggled on then we thought lets have a round of skeet it will be good practice for crossers. My mate used to shoot skeet and is very good at it, I have shot about six rounds in my life only as part of Lancashire all round champs that we used to shoot for fun. Anyway I really enjoyed it, the game gun suits it very well and my style seems to suit it. I shot gun down and only missed both singles and the pair off five, my mate said my gun hold was to high and he forgot to tell me once your past four you need a lower hold. Anyway that's yet another discipline I now wish I had shot years ago, we are looking at doing more skeet and some reg poss even a major. My trap shooting is fast becoming a distant memory as I should have shot an OT league shoot today that I am currently winning but I chose esp and skeet instead. Go figure

definitely caught the diversity bug...shame your so far oop north as the Dorest super 7's is all about getting people to shoot different disciplines :)

indeed I have mate. Mix it up a bit, its fun.

next time I am in deepest Dorset I will give you a heads up

NOTHING would surprise me from IPS now. Mid-life realisation of opportunities. (Dour folk may call it a crisis).

Dog agility for Eze next as well or perhaps sheep dog trials!

i wonder what he's got planned for the Mrs to get her out of her comfort zone?

we are now booked on a caravan site close to the grounds two weekends away for two reg skeet comps. Arrive Fri late afternoon shoot skeet practice sat while the wives go for coffee and cake at local hotel. Shoot skeet comp on Sunday wives do whatever wives do then full analysis of the shooting over evening meal and vino in caravan. Drive home Mon morning.

skeet ........ Its the future ?

Yep, skeet does make a nice change to the cut and thrust of trap. I shoot it too during the winter.

NSSA skeet is well worth a try. It's a little more of a challenge than English, is shot all over the UK and is now almost as popular as it's domestic cousin.

Details are on the BSSA website.

Will, the man has problems! I've heard that he's been seen looking into Harley Davidson showroom windows! Not a week goes by without him trying some new hobby, give it time and he will be posting pics of his new mail order eastern European bride....not sure how Mrs IPS is going to take to that sort of thing, well I blame the NHS myself, they changed his medication last year you see!

well I have done the bike thing late teens through my twenties no interest in doing it again however we do have a 1940s BSA in the barn. Done the boat thing in my 40s had three of em last one a 28' four berth sports cruiser with 5L V8 petrol stern drive that was an expensive decade. Done quite a few other things so not sure what else we can fit in so will stick to esp and skeet for now. I put your eastern European idea to Mrs ips her reply sounded something on the lines of "chuckle off"

ps

just been watching Olympic skeet on issf. That looks fun but jeez there shifting.

I cant find any explanation as to what is different with nssa and English can someone enlighten me

Yes I guess we've both done the boat thing, they cost a bomb do boats!!! They make shooting look really cheap! As for new wives, well I guess we've done that one as well, several times in my case. Think I will just stick to trap shooting and beer, cos life's complicated enough!

PS, I pick up the new toy on Wednesday!!!

yes first Mrs nut job or rather ridding myself of her was even more expensive than ten years boating. Wont be doing that divorce thing again either.

ooh new toy, few things in life are better than getting new iron

NSSA targets are a little faster. There's no pair in the middle and high and low singles on peg 8. Oh, and compared to English Skeet, it's incredibly competitive.

so in-between Olympic and softie English then ??

PS I never realised there was so many variations of skeet. One of the shoots me and my mate have arranged is doubles, need to practice that is the target presentation the same as English ?

With all this new and wonderful esp and skeet I expect that the new auto is just around the corner?  So what's it gonna be then?  Something staid and common or high zoot deluxe?
