I demonstrated how to ruin a decent card on the last 2 stands, dropping 9 between them.....still finished on 100, so not too unhappy...

​That must have been pretty decent shooting till then, shame.

Shot yesterday afternoon and what a lovely friendly round of targets, nothing to fear (except fear itself!) messed up big time on stand 14 a simo pair of going aways and dropped 7 all down to operator error and bad gun hold for these type of targets, then back to stand 13 ( ref got lost) and missed my last pair to finish with a 6 (no excuse, sloppy) then over to 15, where a pair of welding goggles would have been useful , so another 5 gone there, so finished on 91 and on reflection stand 14 is the one that will haunt me the most as the tower seemed to trouble a lot of people and I agree it is a disadvantage shooting it in the middle of the afternoon with the blazing sun in your eyes !

The silver lining was watching my other half manage to make the round look smooth and easy as he was only three away by the time we reached stand 15, three more slipped away there, so a cloudy day may have given him one or two more, he finished on 114, not bad for an old boy!!!!!

Good luck to all who have yet to shoot it, a great day out, back to work today, wish I was going shooting again, roll on the weekend!!

​3 or our squad of 5 got a total of 14 clays with 7 shots on stand 14! Just as they crossed about 20 metres out. 2 for the price of 1!  Jammy bu$$ers!

​I did manage to straight this; twice hitting 2 for 1. But it all happened a bit bloody quick, so I shot the bits just in case!

I am at work, looking at at the nice grey sky, thinking how much I'd like to be shooting stand 15 now..

Shot this on Saturday.

The staff were great, both in the clubhouse and the refs, and the company in squad was superb (good to meet Matt and see Paul again), but despite this I shot decidedly below average and turned in exactly the same as last year - 70. 

This said, I am told that I am being too hard on myself, only being 3 weeks post spine surgery ?but I was hoping for at least some improvement.  We didnt suffer the problem with the sun I am sorry to say, it drizzled most of the afternoon so sun would have been preferable but it was what it was.

It was good to see Sian and Tony again, albeit briefly.

All things considered a great shoot and here's to next year ?

Shot it this morning , really enjoyed it and everyone was very friendly.

I didn't do that great wit a score of 64 but apparently I should be happy with that as I have only been shooting since March, fractured some ribs on Thursday and also I apparently need to raise the comb on my gun too  haha 

Looking forward to the next one

My goodness there is no way I could have lifted a gun with fractured ribs, never mind the recoil and the pain when breathing, I cracked mine when I fell at Barrow Heath a few years ago and was in agony for weeks, all I can say is that is true dedication to the sport. Imagine what sort of score you might have had if you had been without injury, well done.

Shot on Saturday and lovely to see Phil again and to meet Salop Sniper and Rupert for the first time.  I enjoyed the day and my squad were lovely and I was very happy with my 84/120.  A good mix of targets for us all and when I shot stand 15 I thought of you Will Hewland and managed a 5.

George missed one high right to left crosser at Southdown yesterday morning, ( much to the surprise of the few of us waiting to shoot ) I got all of them on that stand. So I beat GD on 1/2 the birds on one stand! He absolutely trashed me on the other 95 birds on the round.  funny old game this!

It was great to meet Phil S and shoot with him also meeting Sian and Tony on the last stand.

Am used to small 50 bird clay shoots with the most difficult shoots ive done being : Haimwood 100bird and Tuesday evenings at Hodnet doing 50birds.

So this was my first ever comp and shooting in that environment so a bit of a shock to the system to say the least.

I walked away with 66, 3 stands straighted and one stand late on with just a 1 which I was 100% lost on. I wanted to walk away with half / 50% as a minimum which I did....... Although I had really wanted to walk away with a 75-80, it just didnt happen. So this is my target/ aim for next year.

​I tested the strength of a car steering wheel once. Before the days of airbags. Drove the car into the side of a train and argued with the steering wheel with my chest. Broke or fractured 5 ribs. The worst was people deliberately making me laugh for the couple of weeks afterwards. Hurt like hell!
