I had a similar experience at Sheephouse, went back another couple of times and it was the same so haven't bothered since. They are very handy, about 10 mins from work at lunch and also on my way home... pity really as I won't go there :(

Fuz, The Velocities kick like a mule and are filthy, only ever used them once. The only cartridge I have shot that were worse were the NSI Primas!!

Jon.

I will second that shot a couple of thousand because they were cheap

Velly eentersting :.: DavidB says you dont get much oomph through his auto but Jon says they kick like mule through his.

Was talking to Don about the cartridge reviews he is doing for clayshooting mag. He was saying that peoples perception of recoil was wildly differering, some saying black golds were smooth as silk others (me included) finding them hard as hell.

The review of the gamebore range in the mag gives an AAA shooter saying kents are smoother than blue diamond with similar kills and black golds punchy and an AA shooter saying kents are smooth enough but prefered the blue diamonds

Horses for courses I suppose ;) Best get a box or 2 and give em a go, If they are crap I can stick em through the auto at the pigeons :D

A good while ago I shot 2 boxes of these alongside 2 boxes of English Sporters to see which I preferred. I found they both gave super breaks with the Kent Velocity just edging it, the trouble was they were also fierce. In fact I decided against both as their price difference to my usual ammo wasn't sufficiently enough for me to put up with the recoil. Non availability of 8's was the other important issue.

As Hamid says the non availability of 8 shot is a let down but otherwise I think the Velocities are OK.

Yes they are a bit thumpy, the fibre version even more so,but both versions are clean, they do the job and they are a good price,if you can say that about any cartridge these days,at £149/1000.

Vic.

Only ever shot Kents as thats what the gunshop sold me when i brought my first shotgun just over a year ago. The only reason i havent tried any other makes is cost, i shoot with my 11yr old son and as we are both seeing our averages go up quite quickly, generally shoot twice every weekend, which just costs a fortune!!

I dont find the Kents recoil bothers me and they seem to break clays, what more could i want!!

my experience with them too, although I have recently switched to Nobel Prima 28g very acceptable , but the Italian suppliers are in trouble and I am now looking again for a value for money shell. grrrrrrr!!

gonna buy a slab on saturday and give em a whirl, like I said earlier if I find them too punchy I'll stick em through the auto. But to be fair I've got a Danuser on the back of my mk38 and 40 odd gram mini magnums arent too bad :p

Recoil reducer :D see here chap http://www.danuser.com/recoil/counter-coil

i like these and are my fibre cart of choice (for when i have to use fibre) at the moment … i did a side-by-side comparison with kent velocity and blue diamond and i found the velocity better. I thought they were a lot smoother and this was quite a surprise saying the blue diamond are more expensive and have the gordon recoil reducer built into them …. and the velocity use the same diamond shot as the blue diamond too for a lot cheaper

I am afraid it is not always possible to patronise your local gun shop/dealer/shooting ground for carts. I always shop around and get the optimum price for my 1000 otherwise I cant shoot as regularly as i like to. In any case the nearest suplliers to me are E.J. Churchill who stock mostly game cartridges, Calyshootingsrus who are a bit hit and miss with their stuff and Sheephouse Shooting Supplies who until recently stocked my current cart Nobel Prima 28g plastic wad which I found to be very good for my needs. I am now trying Rio Target Load these are all price driven choices.
I use danarms 28grm 8 from clayshootingrus big pete is very cheap dont use sheephouse anymore lucky if you get a grund out of mr happy

Bit the bullet and bought 2 thou kents today. shot a round of abt and dtl with them and they seem pretty good. shot them side by side with some olympics and I cant tell any difference in recoil. Had some cracking second barrel abt kills with them at a fair old distance :D

all in all £20 odd per thousand saving is just a bonus. Only real shame is they only do 7.5 and no 8s :(

might have missed it but how much per k?

£153 for plastic wad 7.5s from Just Carts. Very clean too, cleaner than olympics down my barrels :D

I know what you're getting at Fuzz, even if no other bugger does :p

I think the recent brief introduction of Gamebore Continentals (nice cartridges) was a forerunner of some new softer Kent Velocity (the new pink ones)

The old white and then blue Kent Velocity should have been sold with a bag for your teeth, but I reckon these new pink ones might be softer. If you look at a Gamebore Continental and a new pink Kent Velocity next to each other, the only difference is the printing on the pink case. Everything else looks identical.

I could shoot Continentals all day, great cartridges, even on rangey stuff, and not punchy. To be honest Kent Velocity didn't bother my shoulder with recoil, but they rattled my brain and gave me a headache. Continentals don't and I'm hoping the new pink Kents are the same. I'm waiting for my mate to deliver me a slab to try out :p

Yep, the clear cased fibre wad version of a few years back were something else, think mule with rigger boots on :( If you are a real man and can "do" pink the new ones are spot on :D A man of magnificos "chuck norris is a pussy" stature will love them :.: :.:

I'll wear them with pride in crossed bandoliers when I get them :yell:
