I had a chat with this guy a good few months ago to see if he could mirror my current stock (to make it into a LH one).

He couldn't,  but was more than happy to copy the stock as is in laminate for about £300 at the time. Not sure what his prices are now.

Lovely bloke and happy to spend the time on the phone going through what I wanted. Well worth a call to discuss. They are based in Wetherby,  West Yorkshire.

Skeet, Phil, thanks for this. I spotted their page yesterday and they are on my list of people to call. I want to talk to a smith/stocker anyway to see about the mechanism in the fore-end.  I'm sure I could switch it over, but screwing it up is not an option..!

Again thank you both for the help.

From memory the fine fitting, as it were, ie cutting in the stock head and setting in the forend iron etc is down to you or a stocker.

Even if a stocker has to do it, it will still be cheaper than having a new walnut stock made☺

The laminates are available here from a number of sources and there are lotsa stock cutters with machines that will cut to a thou so fitting is practically done.  I unfortunately picked a highly touted firm to make a red/white/blue lam set for me and they did nothing less than a sh*te job for me.  So my laminate stocks are still unrealized.  Not that I wouldn't like to still have it tho - would be totally cool.  I'll see if I can get some pix of what I have.

The website is rather woeful, but some the work is impressive. Maybe I should forget the laminate and go for candy apple red, with gold flake and pinstriping?  Maybe not...

I can vouch for the quality of his workmanship. ken is the guy who does the air brushing and they look a lot better than the site portrays. I think Some of his artwork is being displayed in Bromley town hall to commemorate the battle of Britain.

I would dismiss going to him just on the basis of that page. Needs sorting out properly.

Just goes to show you how even a man gifted with an airbrush and by extension in posession of some reasonable artistic talent is not necessarily the best man for building a website!
