Obviously 4g weight difference and about a tenner per thou money wise. The difference between ones ears in competition is big enough that even the great many advocates of the less shot makes no odds don't actually practice what they preach. :.:  ;)

If you're recoil shy though less shot can make a very real difference to the cumulative effects of concussion. This is a little simplistic though because you have to compare like with like as it's possible to find 28g loads that kick less than some 24g loads.

Check it out in the book I pasted on the other thread.....it should help with a lot of saved typing.

It has all the info in it.....and it's free.

Hammy I am impressed with your mathmatical skills. The recoil bit is Mmmmmm how can I say. 24 grm = less recoil but some 28grm may be less recoil than 24grm.

So 24grm could be less recoil or not than 28grm but 28grm may be softer or not

than 24.

Some standard 28g loads are known for being soft on the shoulder such as the Comp X, one or two comp bred 24g loads are punchy because they're loaded to very high muzzle velocity.

Ok I don't shoot 24s can't get them around here, I could be way off the mark but my thinking is if shot thru tight chokes they would be every bit as good as 28s, but thru very open chokes there has to be a disadvantage, maybe very small disadvantage but there's less lead has to have some affect ?

Of course you are perfectly correct, UNLESS..............you are using Briley extended extra full choke, preferably the wad shredding variety and are putting them through an auto. You will find though that the 24 gram and the above combination would probably be better suited to Trap shooting. Coupled with Nike white trainers, you will find the recoil barely perceptible.

Oh s**t I have probably just upset Mr. Marchington !

Funny you should mention that Hammy. I have been trying out Soveriegn 24's and 28's, the 28's are a lot softer than the 24's, the 28's are a bit slower. The difference in felt recoil is huge!!!
