Ha, no mate that was bog standard tea. :)

Was a good shoot I even picked up but dont think I will be retiring on it. Did you enjoy shooting on our squad, ground owners hide when they see us turn up :)

Ya I saw, you got into the top 10, well done.

Ya I loved it, found the UT hard, but some silly misses there too. Had a bad start on UT round 2 but went well after that.

17 on the first ABT wasnt good but was happy with the finish, really got into them with only 2 2nd barrels I think. Pleased with the dtl also, shooting WInter Series round 2 next Sunday so hopefully can carry the form over to that. Maybe get my first 25 in competition. (Question: Is ABT like DTL in that the trap arm is moving constantly so you get random targets? Not like UT & OT with set schemes? Never thought to ask Arnie)

Ye were certainly the most... "vocal" squad iv been on! Not afraid to voice yer opinion! But I didnt take too much notice tbh, just got on with things. Cleared my mind! Id have no probs shooting with ye again.

Im not experienced enough to notice timing issues with traps, and Im used to that main road/skeet targets/sheep issues that happen up at Degla. Its all part of the experience/fun!

Rob

i still have no idea how you shot a bloody excellent 24 on our last abt, very impressed as us old beggars could not even see them. I mean this in the most respectful way but sometimes ignorance is bliss as in you did not concern yourself with the bad light we experienced on a couple of lines or the traffic issues you just got on with the job which is highly commendable so very well shot. It was a baptism of fire shooting with us but be we would be more than happy for you to jump on our squad again. Cya soon and i say again well shot.

Thanks Ian,

All that other stuff is out of my control, thats the way I look at it!

I did get get caught out by the bad light a couple of times, especially the first abt round.

For the last abt, I started watching your shots, focusing on my hold point while you were mounting your gun, & then following your clays out, then following that 6th guys clays in the same way. I was really straining my eyes, they were wide open, looking for the front edge of the clay. I found my eyes were tuned into the light better then. I have been looking at my feet waiting for my shot before that, but the light inside the trap house is different to the light out in front of us. Just something I experimented with yesterday. Seemed to work.

I also got completely lost in the routine! I thought we were onto our last 5, when we still had 15 to go. It felt like we shot at 40 clays in that last round.

An excellent mind set Rob, I have nothing to add as you seem to have worked it all out on your own. See you on the next one :)

Rob

Sorry pal only just noticed the question (must be this man flu effecting my eyes)

(Question: Is ABT like DTL in that the trap arm is moving constantly so you get random targets)

Yes it is Rob which is why ABT can be an unfair discipline because theoretically I could get many more easy ones and you could get many more harder ones however I think that statistically over a 100 bird comp the laws of averages would pretty much even things out. A very good ABT shooter once said to me that UT was old mans ABT :)

UT on the other hand is fair however its a difficult discipline IMO unless you shoot it regularily as the hold points and the timing take some getting used to, the secret to UT is the ability to hold back and not move until you see the target clearly otherwise you will do my trick of seeing (for instance) a left hand target in your peripheral vision emerge from the right trap and go swinging the wrong way. .. Its very easy to do unless as I say you shoot a loot of UT (we used to shoot it a lot before the A6 closed)

Next time we are there we will stand behind the UT layout and I will try and point you in the right direction re-hold points etc, but don't worry you are progressing very very well.
