Heart breaking when they go. 17 is a good age and console yourself with the knowledge that he had a happy life being so loved and cared for.

A gentleman lost his cocker spaniel a field trial champion from the Rytex kennel name Field Trail Champion Rytex Ronnie.
Heartbroken at the loss of his dog the gentleman died and went to Rainbow Bridge where he saw St.Peter working a cocker spaniel that was the spitting image of Rytex Ronnie. His heart filled with joy and the gentleman , with a tear in his eye said "Is that my beloved dog Ronnie? "
St. Peter said "Sadly no, THAT is God, he thinks he's as good as Rytex Ronnie!!"

17 years. A cracking good run. A friend like Charlie will always be with you even when the physical presence has gone.
