I shot a k80 for around 14mths, no problem then changed to an MX12.

I shoot well with the '12 but the following day I usually have a stiff neck/neck ache.

I'm assuming it's a gun fit issue - anyone else experience anything similar ?

I've tried to book a gunfit with Andy Harvison, but he's out of the country for 2 wks.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Simon

Could it be tension, new gun, trying too hard and tensing up etc?

Probably is gunfit, but just an alternative thought.

I would think that it may well be a gunfit issue. Was the K gun adjustable comb? Is the Perazzi fixed comb and too low?

Why do you have to wait for Andrew to return? Where are you based? Are there no competent stockers or gunfitters in your local area? All of the foregoing assumes that you have not suffered an injury , accident or illness that may be causing issues with your neck or shoulders.

I have this since getting a 3800 going from a 525 (with greenpad) just had an adjustable isis Xpad fitted to hopefully cure the problem shooting sunday and hopefully no pain after, shooting 24g rather than 28g has helped so hoping 24g and isis will solve it completely.

its a mix of fit and recoil is the MX12 lighter than the K80?

Yes, k gun was adjustable and the P gun is fixed comb....

I don't know if it's too low, but possibly....

Based in Cheshire and I want to discuss the solutions - presumably convert it to adjustable, add comb lift pad ? Anyway whoever does any work on the gun needs to be very good and I want that confidence.

No injury etc

It is lighter.

Shooting eley Olympics, so there is a possibility of changing to a lighter load.... Suggestions ? I've heard HULL cartridges are softer ??

I was shooting hull superfast and express power blue and getting neck issues shooting hull intercomp the issue has gone compX are very soft but SlooooooooooooW, depends what your shooting but i wouldn't for trap!

The 3800 trap is heavier than the 525 sporter but a touch shorter....

If you want the P gun adjusted then Simon at doveridge has good reputation but personally i would be going to see dennis stepney at UK gun repairs in wellington somerset (you could always go for an evocomp stock)  give him a call although he is seriously backed up with work right now (always is!) and has a pile of P guns requiring his attention

Muscle memory rebellion, you suggest kill rate is good. Keep shooting the aches will vanish.
Interesting take..... it will be weeks until I can get an assessment, so will continue to shoot with it.

Cheshire shooter Tony Dean ( Sandbach) is a Coach & Gunsmith , he could give you some advice on gunfit and /or could fit the gun for you.

I am concerned that you say you have no injuries or illnesses but seem to be worried about recoil and discomfort. DO NOT TRY TO SHOOT THROUGH A PROBLEM.

If you do have an injury you will compound the problem.

Simon Wilborough at Doveridge will sort out an adjustable comb for you if needed. But you cannot beat a fixed comb correctly fitted ( bent) gun.

I am happy to help if required.
