I took 3 months to connect the stiff neck and shooting........... no pain on the day but 24-48 hours later it was hell.

Cheshire shooter Tony Dean ( Sandbach) is a Coach & Gunsmith , he could give you some advice on gunfit and /or could fit the gun for you.

I am concerned that you say you have no injuries or illnesses but seem to be worried about recoil and discomfort. DO NOT TRY TO SHOOT THROUGH A PROBLEM.

If you do have an injury you will compound the problem.

Simon Wilborough at Doveridge will sort out an adjustable comb for you if needed. But you cannot beat a fixed comb correctly fitted ( bent) gun.

I am happy to help if required.
Thanks

I'm not saying I'm worried about recoil - I've shot eley Olympics for 12 mths no problem until I changed the gun.

I'm a doctor and understand (to a degree) about recoil related injuries etc...

USer name makes sense now........ Old olympics or the new olympic blues?

Both Eley types and granted the latest are nowhere near as smooth as the older ones !

Malcom Jenkins in Luton for gun fit.
Not the other chap you mention.

It is lighter.
There - pain is almost always due to recoil and recoil can sometimes be eased by better fit. I say better because there is such a thing as a perfectly fitted gun which still has too much recoil for a given shooter, i.e, it is too light !!
If you have access to your old K80 lay it flat on the ground and very carefully lower the Perazzi on top, taking care to have the triggers lining up as a guide. Stand back and stare for a few minutes, you will see where the two differ, my guess is the new gun will have a lower comb, may be slightly too long forcing you to adopt a tense hold and the pitch may also need to be looked at.

This advice is worth what you paid for it but has worked for me.

PS. Be prepared to add a little weight to the new gun if that's what it takes to restore the recoil characteristics to the former guns threshold which you could live with.

Minimum,

Of course you are correct, now sod off to McDonalds or Costa Coffee .

Yep I will go with gun fit too! Also if your K gun was the normal heavyweight article, could be that your P gun is lighter and more recoil reaches you. Just a thought!!

Having had the same problem some time ago I can make some suggestions.

Firstly gunfit. It is essential to get someone you trust to check gunfit and make changes if necessary.

Next I would advise getting a good coach to look at your stance against the fit of your gun.

After much research I found that an upright stance will adversly affect neck problems . If you do not put your weight forward because of a poor stance +/- gunfit problems your head will move more due to the recoil when you fire your gun.If you look at yourself in the mirror you will see that an upright stance provides a less stable support for the gun in your shoulder . Try the " pocket test". Feel for the pocket between your shoulder joint and your collar bone . It tends to become more pronounced as you lean forward.

Finally as damage oftens tends to be cumulative and pain is nature's way of telling you that you are doing some damage , look at lighter loads until or even after you have fixed the problem.

I recall that I had one girlfriend who had this tendency to tense her thigh muscles in a way that always gave me a stiff neck.

Never got a stiffie from a gun tho - neck that is of course

well the Isis Xpad i had fitted has certainly helped still not 100% with it but as its adjustable i need to get used to the adjustment at present i want to move it back straight but will continue with it for a while and hope scores improve.

K80 bore size is 18.6mm.

Some Perazzi go smaller. This creates more recoil.

Check what's on the barrel.

Anything below 18.5 could cause your issue.
