Short of a knighthood (covered elsewhere) - there is a good article in the Kent News about George today:

This bit says it all really:

“I’m not saying there’s been one big mistake, but sport is a great leveller. You have to learn from things you’ve done in the past and not make those mistakes again.
“You need to be able to admit that you’ve done something wrong. You’ve got to be as honest with yourself as you can, and if you’ve not succeeded you must work harder.”

i think the scale of what i’ve achieved will only be recognised in the shooting sports posthumously. it’s appeared that because i’ve won so much that it’s easy to win things.
Superb article but I disagree with the above quote from him. Anyone with any knowledge within this sport can see we're looking at achievements that will never be replicated. There is more to come too hopefully.

I was having a discussion on this with Mrs Admin the other day - no reason why he can't go on winning for another 20 years... maybe more.

....Love this.

'Shooting king who has won it all'. Hmm, not quite. I don't ever remember seeing him on the top step of an Olympic podium!

:fie:  Matbe its something to do with him not shooting olympic disciplines? :fie:   :fie:   :fie:

Well i'm sure if he really put his mind to it he could achieve that as well, and it would be great to see!

He did play at Double Trap for a while.  Anybody know why he didn't continue with it?

I'm all for positive shooting press and I know the hedgies idolise him but hang on a moment. He's very good at what he does. To suggest he's won it all is nonsensical and comes from a media that don't understand the demands of the shooting sports.

As he doesn't shoot the disciplines it's impossible to say but if other top sporting and FITASC shooters are anything to go by, they don't usually do so well at trap.

Probably a low boredom threshold ! Trap and Skeet are for people who who don't get bored easily... It takes some doing to get excited about shooting the same old targets going the same old way, week in...week out ! ... and then you can go abroad for an exciting shooting holiday and shoot the same old targets in the sunshine .

:fie:  I suppose when George is old and pi**ed off with life he will probably take up trap shooting! :preved:  after all its like wetting your pants

it does'ent take much skill and effort! :hunter:   :hunter:

MMMMMmmmmm, I wonder how you have fared shooting the Tarp disciplines, DTL, ABT, UT and OT. After all, they are mind numbing and they don't "take much skill and effort!"

A perfect explanation of why I shoot Sporting! Sometimes I struggle to concentrate fully through 10 targets on a stand, let alone 25, 50, etc, etc. etc, etc, zzzzzzzzzzz!

No disrespect to those that can do this. Personally my brain is not big enough for this much thought process!
