Dehydration is a concentration killer. I have spent 6 or 7 hours in a sailplane cockpit and got through 4 litres of water. I used to freeze it solid the night before and the thawing process was just right to release cold water at about the right rate! ( Don't ask for the details or mechanics of peeing in a sailplane's, ahem, cockpit whilst still maintaining control :) )

I've never been a good water drinker and have yet to bother with carrying anything round with me. Might change if I get better and need to get few more percent. Must admit that I find i'm waning noticeably at the end of a full day.

MacDonalds, strong coffee lots of sugar, 20 B@H gold and lots of sweets..? Am I doing it wrong..

" thats when the fight started "

Sainsburys do them. They are not the greatest tasting items in the world but they are good.
Tesco have them in the "free from" section.

Any breakfast biscuit type thing should be okay as it's mostly oats (slow release) but you don't want too much sugar (spike, then it's gone). It depends on how sensitive to blood sugar you are. Lower sugar version are "better" but some people need to worry more about that kind of thing than others.

I am one of those that has to admit to bacon baps or a full English forming my preferred pre-shooting breakfast. My scores are way too low to worry about the finer points, but I'm sure they are very important at competition level.

Perhaps I may venture the suggestion that the evening before shooting is important, too. An over-sufficiency of alcoholic beverages is not conducive to an effective performance the following day.

Gnasher is spot on about squash but I guess being a dentist she would know better then most :spiteful:   Stick to water everytime and not to cold either just sort of room temperature little and often also for food stick to the complex carbs and leave the protein for afterwards.

A large fry up will do nothing other then increase your waist size and the protein Could leave you feeling lethargic

Keep it clean and simple

Coffee, full english, and more coffee

Fluids in moderation,

Nothing worse than a full bladder when stuck in a traffic jam ;)

As Shaun says really, but in all likelihood unless you are at the top 0.0001% I'd say probably other things worth worrying about!

You could use the banana for leeeeed purposes, different size bananas for different leeeeeds! Then if it don't work eat them!!

So many variables to consider when it comes to nutrition and how it affects different people.

Personally I consume around 4000 calories a day eating on average 8 times a day starting at 6am and finishing around 11pm I keep myself what I consider to be fit and carry very little body fat losing that continuity during a long sunday shoot will have a profound effect on my performance and whilst I may not be challenging for the world title a win in A class is as important to me! Feeling hungry and thirsty on stand 8 is gonna spell disaster :fie:   So try and stick to what makes you feel as normal possible on a day to day basis and you won't go far wrong But if you ever feel your concentration is dwindling as you near the end then it could be a nutrition issue and may just be the difference between winning and losing some cash whatever class you shoot in.

As Ed says for most there are other thing s to worry about BUT don't underestimate concentration being affected by poor body fuel management...

Maybe, providing you're you're hitting the clays most of the time if you find your performance dropping off as a days shooting goes on then diet and fitness are areas to look at that could bring an improvement in scores quite quickly whatever your level I would think. At the top end where you're looking for every little way you can improve then diet and conditioning becomes very important and you start on psychology, autogenic training, aromatherapy ..............

Well done Jake yesterday .......in top 4?

Do you know who else got Comm places (I saw that Matt did).

Lager the night before and lots of it just to ensure you are hydrated, I just drink water before during and after as I have a hangover. Coffee makes my hands shake :fie:

my combo of mars bar and full fat coke seemed to work yesterday. Shot a 92 and straighted the pool hahahahahahaha get in.
