Been tried for years To get Compak on by various people (remember the ramblings of Denise.....Lordy Lordy....save us from a repeat of chapter and verse with that .....!!)

Sporting......ain't going to happen...!! What 'hedge monkeys' in the Olympics????

Best one that would fit and that is already on some Olympic layouts in different countries ......is.......wait for it.......

HELICE...!!

a true watchable sport needing Olympic measures of concentration...!! Only for the Brave.......

When you have shot all the rest......then come shoot the BEST.....!!
There's no standardisation there Nic, anything can happen. I think a female competitor won the last selection shoot. Miss Heron.

You sparked my interest, as I had an idea about it but never seen it.

Just watched two (I presume) of your videos on YouTube and also one from 2010 at West Kent, where I recognised Tom Gridley and Dionne from Potters.

Looks like it could be wicked fun!

I heard it is expensive though...what does a round run at?

Too many variables in helice... Plus it's too easy :)

Sporting would be great but I can't see it happening any time soon sadly. If it did I'd be first in line for quitting the day job and givin it a go!

If they can make BMX'ing or Sledging(the Louge) a sport then why not full running bore simulated, god the bangs would be good. You could shoot a .456 Rigby ! There would be loads who would take up that I am sure
Check out the 5th Discipline of Fitasc called 'Combined Game Shooting' it is almost that Chiefy. You shoot OT layout gun down fitasc style. Then you move onto rifles, shooting set targets from prone, standing, standing with stick and standing with support like fixed pole. In one of the parts the deer or boar are moving on a fixed track that comes round a bung and directly across your vision at a distance. The Eastern European are good at this.

I agree with Mr hammy loads of sports have many variables cant see any problem.

Haha that is why it is hard.....you have to beat women and anything can happen plus you do not know where anything is coming from......proper shooting.

The shooting population is still smarting from the Olympics where the only female clay events were won by a higher percentage than the men's competition.

The difficulties of 2-day shooting must be greater than we thought.

Imagine a Gold Medal shoot off in the Olympics on Helice. One man gets a straightforward target the other man gets a crazy whizzer! Not Fair and a big problem. Cycling, skiing etc the Gold and Silver are on same track maybe alongside each other. I realise this isn't the same as having targets the same anywhere in world and maybe that isn't as vital as they make out.

I reckon jake that you and myself at the next committee meeting should put it forward that we would like to start a Helice championship at bluepoint,

I will let you bring it up of course and I will back you up mate....I'm good like that you know.

It won't happen for the following reasons -

1. It is impossible to standardise the discipline

2. It is very difficult to televise.

and most importantly...

3. Outside the UK and one or two other countries it's not particularly popular.

I'd love to see it as an Olympic event but suspect it'll be a long, long time coming.

Not sure on the standardising situation really, golf is to be included at the next Olympics and that would be played on a different course every different Olympics....a bit like a different sporting layout every time. I suppose they will play (I assume) a standard 18 holes but there's nothing to stop a sporting layout being a standard 12 or 13 stands or whatever it needs to be every time. Still can't see it happening though.

I was trying to get them to just get one machine for a play a while ago. A full layout is expensive but I would love to do it!

It is a bit more complicated than that as there are no specific 'hard' birds. It all depends what you like. For me.....keep them on the floor and daisy cutters every time (loads hate those birds but I love them) the ones I hate are the sit up and beg. So ir depends on what your nemesis is....there are no hard or easy birds at Helice...!

I knew I was taking a risk talking about Helice on here, but I think you've let me off lightly there, I thought I was in for a roasting, . :)

Great fun shooting, expensive... but super fun - I've been twice and scored OK - but no wins (was close to a place once, but @ beat me) - its very addictive - like shooting on a playstation, reactions, technique, speed of eyes
