forgot to say, our mr peel has done 2x200 straights at ABT he is one of the best trap shooters GB has ever produced (in fact he produced himself with no formal coaching afaik) which proves two things.

ABT is very difficult

Mr peel is a legend
Ian shot the first 200 straight at Fareham in 1984 using his Browning B1 30".  His second at Cheddar Valley, known now as Brook Bank, in 1998 he used his Miroku MK38 32". I'm sure Ian would want to mention his long association with Joe Neville as his coach, mentor and friend.

It has been an interesting thread. For my part I would say that the length of barrel a shooter uses is going to be down to personal choice and what they think suits their physical make up. After all logic says a six foot six 15 stone shooter is going to be able to handle a longer gun that bit easier than a 5ft 6in shooter would ... then again it really comes down to how well balanced and dynamic the shooter feels with the longer barrel ? It has also been interesting that a few good shooters have been highlighted as using longer barrels to good effect, is this the exception rather than the rule though? After all we see really top OT shooters winning world cup golds with, to be fair, mostly Perazzi shotguns but are those barrels standard 75cm, 78cm, 80cm or are the very personal specials made for them by Perazzi... or other manufactures ? For these really top sponsored shooter I would hazard a guess and say that the barrels will be made to the exact length and weight to ensure perfect balance and dynamic?
