Well, it's not much to contribute to support the team of chosen ones, especially if you consider that if "you" shoot them and make the GB team you'll have to find the couple of grand to take part in a World Cup on top.

No doubt at the end of the year they'll decide to go back to 125 over 2 days due to lack of additional numbers..

Out of interest. How much are the DT selections?

Could do them instead and keep the other six company. Sorry, five if Pete's having a year off..

Just to clarify i ain't bothered about the 120 quid its just the principal, i would like to know how this cost is justified and how this will help to attract more interest ot.

So what is the cost for ladies as they only shoot 75 each day? Surely must be less right? Or are ladies suddenly shooting the full 100 plus a final like the men?

Ladies shoot 75 plus a final each day and the cost is less than the men, it's £50 I think.  Typically there's no mention of the entry fees, that I can find on the BICTSF website, or even the ISSF selection procedure for the GB team this year.

I pointed out in an earlier thread that there was no sign of a selection procedure for any ISSF disciplines.....not like in our day on that bloody board eh Phil...?

Clear and transparent selection procedure is important so that all athletes know their progression pathway to a GB badge.

But who cares....we all just want to shoot.......!!

(No transparent pathway = Problem No1....,,,,just saying).

There's three elements to BICTSF selection shoot prices.

1. Ground fee.

2. Prize fund element.

3. The remainder goes towards sending the non funded GB team members abroad from that particular discipline.

That's good..as you probably guessed I didn't expect non funded members to get any help. I just hope that whoever gets selected its by first past the post with no other criterias imposed. Hopefully a sport for all again! Can't add a big smilie as the keypad won't let me. But i would if I could.

60 levie, they must be sending them business class.

Well usual 100 comp is around 30 so 120 for 2 days it 60 more, just wondered were the 60 went, I understand there is always a levie but 60 seems high. Yes I know its a GB shoot but it wont help in attracting people to shoot OT luckily I can afford 120 no problem but I am sure there are people who may not shoot such events because of the cost, I certainly remember when I was in my twentys with a mortgage and mrs and child and had to make my shooting budget stretch. That is my only point.

Where do you get to shoot 100 comp for £30?

The UT selection shoots are £100 for 200 targets which is obviously still more than a regular Sunday comp so assume there is some form of levy in that price as well? I must say that £60 for 100 targets seems a bit steep and as you say, will not be attracting many new shooters and may keep some regulars away.

Let's face it most people who shoot selection shoots have got no chance of being selected so do it for fun and maybe to have the chance to shoot next to a top shooter. Taking another £20 out of the 'making up the numbers' shooters pockets so that the governing body doesn't have to put their hand in their's is hardly the way to encourage more in to the discipline!

I'm not defending BICTSF and the pricing of their selection shoots as I too think they're OTT now especially if you're just doing the first three weekends for England OT team selection.

However, the number of selection shoot weekends have been reduced which saves on travelling, accommodation and food costs. In order to recoup the lost income from 5 or 6 selection shoot weekends they've put the price up. This applies to UT too.

Now there are two selection shoots over one weekend. Those contenders for GB team places have to do either one or both, depending on the selection criteria yet to be published!!!. Contenders for the England team are forced into doing both.

As I mentioned in my previous post the entry fee of £60 is broken into three elements. The first is the fee charged by the ground for the 100 targets, plus all the flash clays for the semi final and final. Call that in broad terms £30. Then there's the prize fund usually £10 so that's up to £40 and the remaining £20, the profit, is what goes into the OT kitty towards funding the team events abroad. That's four World Cups, the European and World Championships.

I hope that makes sense to you.
