afternoon,

As the title suggests, I've been offered a 682 gold E, with an adjustable stock and left handed so fits me down to a T. The only thing is it has a high rib, are there any positive and negatives to this?

many Thanks

Lee

excellent gun for trap high rib affords better peripheral vision and a comfortable head up position, they shoot flat for a high rib so prob ideal for sporting. Nicely balanced triggers are very good for the money but obviously not up to DT10 std build quality good.

If the gun has a high rib it should be marked EX, I owned one a few years ago and did a write up on here too complete with pics so hopefully you should be able to find it via a search. The gun is a gem  :)  but I kept the low rib if that answers your question.

Yep spot on Ian, more vision, more comfort.

I can't speak to a particular gun, but for me the height of the rib is really inconsequential as long as the gun is fitted to shoot where I look.

Personally I get on fine with one for sporting but I did have a good play round with one before I purchased.

I would have to agree to some extent with Ed Solomons.

Hi-ribs do take some adapting to, but can assist people with neck or spinal issues . I do not know one person who has instantly improved by moving to a Hi-rib.

Perhaps if they had put as much time and effort into their original gun they could have saved money.

But as they say " A change is as good as a rest".
