If I wanted to shoot the exact same stuff week in week out I'd shoot a round of trap. Then hang myself...
Go forth and multiply in a sexual fashion.......just saying...!

In trap you do not even know where they are coming from....true story....!

Lot of faggots breath on here

i like the rabbits that come out much slower than the others.and you say to yourself" dont shoot infront, dont shoot infront" bang rabbit keeps rolling much p*** taking from mates

You should say...'shoot behind it' which is a positive rather than 'don't ' shoot in front...which is a negative

...just saying..!

you know the score before you take the stand, you watch the chap on front of you see the clay has the odd bounce In a certain place, and deal with it!!
You miss the point, here is the scenario... you enter the cage ready to shoot a left to right battue and a low crossing right to left blaze target you have stood and watched three people shoot already so you are as you say "ready to DEAL WITH IT"  Battue on its way you push through pull the trigger and as you do so it stops dead and drops to the ground resulting in a miss, please tell me Macc Ladd would you or would you not feel cheated.. :roulette:  .

thats totally different to a rabbit clay jumping, we all know rabbits can jump and it is just the way it is. If it happens to me, there's now to can do about it. One of those things unfortunately.

sorry shaunmk38 I would expect no bird to be called, and if not I would ask why not.

I agree with you 100% but it takes the skill out of the equation when your trying to shoot at something that is no longer there, mostly you will adjust in time but not always hence the rule in sporting stating targets should follow the same trajectory obviously wind permitted to ensure everyone's chances are equal.

Macc Ladd, both the scenarios you mentioned above had a target which suddenly and substantially deviated from it's expected flight path. You were prepared to accept one but not the other? If you had a ref like me, you would be given the target again in both instances. I can't see it being any fairer to you, and the other competitors before and after you, than that.

I just know from years of experience that 99.9% of competitors would query anything which wasn't right unless they had gained an advantage from it.

I also know that all their mates they shoot with would try to exert pressure on the ref to come to their decision. That's why the ref has to work within a set of perameters and not deviate from this, however much a killjoy he appears.

I'm talking here of registered competition of course, not you little fun straw baler. Not even I am that pedantic!

i appreciate what you say, and I applaud you for treating everybody equal, very often I see the no name shooters given lost target, and the better well known shooters given "no bird"pair again!!! It's just seems a sort of exception to the rule that rabbits do jump, as shaunmk38 mentioned the rabbit stopped ( that is again slightly different again as the target is not getting to it's intended finishing point" and I would expect a no bird called!!

Now that's exaxctly the point I'm making (in a roundabout sort of way). I've seen it time and time again like you have, and I'm sure many others have seen it too. Also lost out by this treatment.

I don't referee any more. Got fed up with the bullying that goes on from some "top" shooters, and some lesser ones!

Trying to be fair seems to only be appreciated when an advantage is gained. But it's a two way street and everybody should be allowed to travel both ways equally.

mentioned in an earlier post about the rabbit's length marker What happens if a rabbit doesn't reach it's length marker ?  bird Or no bird ?

and what happens if you shoot at a rabbit and miss and it doesn't reach it's length marker ?   loss or repeat the target ?

Great thinking Ian....well said.My thoughts are....

1) no bird

2) loss as you have opted to shoot the bird and you were crap to miss it (not you of course as you are a rising star  )

I think we missed the one where an alien spaceship came down and beamed up the target???  :sarcastic:

MX8. If you're serious and want to know how I'd judge it then feel free to pm me.

He is serious and that is why it is a very good question and why I answered.Sometimes in Fitasc shoots the course setter can be 'too clever' and throw a very slow rabbitt.....which depending on the ground it is thrown across....can actually stop and fall over. 'Then' it is a no bird...!

They are judged to only just make the marker. Sometimes they don't, but the shot has been taken.

If you miss......then it is a loss...whether it falls over afterwards or not...you have elected to shoot it.

Thiers in France was an expert at this type of bird and their rabbit layout was a card breaker.

....true story

it was a serious question, I would like to know the rules for my questions, can't you post here without a pm ?

Thanks Nicola for your reply.

Apologies MX8. Figured I was having the mick taken as so often happens when you try to help.

Agree with Nicola (of course).

I'll have to think about the spaceship one a bit more though.
