Speaking ones mind is essential, reacting to robust debate and argument is essential, with the right degree of perspective is all I am saying.

Quite David, (unless you are a woman :) ..... )

The trouble is that some people cannot engage in 'robust debate' without crying (laughs).

I enjoy a good old robust debate (laughs).

Tell you what Jim lets shake hands and agree to disagree :)

More important things in life and all that !!

The trouble with any written messages is interpretation, correspondence can be written or read in an aggressive manner even though that was not the authors original intention. Most people will respond to what they see as a personal attack in kind, if you have a forum you are going to get this unless they are all friends.

It’s part of being on internet forums, so if you are easily offended then maybe the internet is not for you.

My previous line is a classic example, it could be read as if I am saying you personally are too touchy so the internet is not for you (kind of a mild attack) or a generic statement saying that those easily offended should not go on the internet.

Once you sew the seed of a personal attack it doesn’t take long for the insults to come even though that was not the original intention.

Trying to stop this misreading of written post is never going to happen on an open forum with people from all walks of life posting on it.

Well said Timps.

But I have to say it has also been said many times before both on here and on clay sporting site.......I have got sick of writing the same thing to 'precious sorts'.

It is the internet.......people should read the threads from a start point as being 'Friend' and not 'Foe' or simply humorous when simply having a personal opinion.

The internet forums have too many crybabies these days.

(Note this is my personal opinion and not aimed at anyone in particular (before Hammy starts again)...).

   :D :p

I think that the biggest problem is that the written word can easily be misinterpreted. We don't have body language, nuances, stresses or inflections to fully understand points that are raised. Unless you're a world-renowned author and master of the English language, you're going to be misunderstood sometimes, and as adults, we all need to consider this. Constructive criticism can be misconstrued (try saying that when you're drunk! :.: ), so maybe we should sit back and take a well balanced look at posts that we at first consider to be offensive before we attack the keyboard!

Or should I get me coat?? :p :D

As I have just said lets all agree to agree or disagree and move on, life goes on without us !!!

In the main I agree, I've often said as much myself when trying to lighten the atmos from time to time. But that's not always the case, the trick is what we individually or as a forum group can do to avoid unpleasantness. Nicola had a brilliant idea in the days of 'The Old Place' and that being keeping off each others toes completely. When all is said and done it's a tiny price to pay to preserve decorum.

….and i think ive missed something  … only been off for a couple of days :.:

common sense atlast thank you.

Wow - a day out shooting, and I come back to this, not much love for the admin today. So - let me answer some of the criticisms.

A lot of people on this blog talk out because its faceless and too easy. I'm not like that i speak my mind and if you havent the balls for some constructive critism then take me off your blog. And by doing so show all users of this blog what your all about.
Jim - no-one is getting 'taken off', but I closed down the 4C's thread because it was going round in circles, and I didn't like the negative tone. I'm more than happy to see the questions asked, and demand an answer - but your relentless negativity was grating on me. Everyone who knows me and has met me will tell you I'm trying to bring people together through this site, not drive wedges between people. And if you think I am faceless, then think again, the whole site is run with my name plastered all over it, and no-one has tried to put their individual stamp on the site like I have. I'll be at another shoot this weekend, and the next, and the one after that wearing my site name on my sleeve like a badge, so if want to discuss just let me know - I'll happily give you my phone number and we can chat - I'm betting you're not as miserable as some of your posts have been.

i think its only the topics that the administrators don't agree with, not a forum in my view !!!!!
Really? Don't be silly - I've defended everyone's rights to threads on this forum for a long time, in 24400+ posts, I've moderated 4 threads - two that had legal implications, one that got personal and the 4C's one. Every single time I have explained my reason, and every single time I've had support from the general population - even the two times that I've had solicitors contact me because someone cannot hold their tongue. Have I ever pulled a thread you've been involved in? Nope, I just checked the pulled threads. Let me know if you happened to be in one without your name on it?

So - if you think I'm running the site badly, let me know - I'll be happy to adjust to what the COMMUNITY wants.

My email address if you want to discuss directly - is [email protected]

I recon all this thread needs is some well constructed input from Dennis Webb.... Let him on Matt he had the jist of runnin a good site before ;-)

I tend to say what I think and I hope I can carry on with it on here. If someone feels offended..... it's only a forum, is it really such a big deal?

Are we not adults?

Dennis Webb say's it like it is and I find him quite humorous. :D

personally i think this post should come to an end .. i have no idea why this post was started in the first place nor an idea who was right or wrong … but i can see it is going around in circles and nothing is getting resolved by this thread and we shouldn't let it ruin a good forum … this forum has always been welcoming no matter what 'standard' ur at …and thats the way it should stay .
