Guess I'm just going to have to be patient, not easy since I believe i'v got the bug.different area's , different time, depend's on workload i suppose. Anything from 4 weeks to 3 month's here.
Hi Bobby, I would have applied months ago but I was trying to get details of motoring convictions from 40 years ago. I requested a disclosure of police records, waited a month, when it came it said they have no records on the police national computer. I tried the DVLA, they said that only current convictions were recorded. So in the end I gave them rough details that I remember. Wonder how that will go down.hi dave its around 3 to 4 months around merseyside,,i put mine in on 20th of jan had interview 7 weeks ago phoned firearms up 2 weeks ago to be told it was now in the hands of the legal dept, ment due to me missing a conviction off my app (total forgetfulness on my behalf,,what an idiot happened 15 yrs ago) mr cawthorne is up to his eyes mate and as he told me renewals come first,,hope this hasn,t put a downer on things mate but if its any help one of the lads put his app in , in march and received his cert 2 weeks ago,, best wishes bobby
Lets hope it is soon for you, good to be able to shoot regularly. I have been going about every 3 weeks on Saturday mornings, if thats you in the photo, I may see you there some time. Must put my own photo on now.hi dave ,it should be ok mate,at least you have told them,i should hear whats happening this week(hopefully),i had a crb check and even that came back negative, just something i honestly forgot about, anyway good luck with it and happy shooting bud,,the good thing is i,ve got a couple of permissions i can shoot with my bud and i also go to NWSS at least two times a week so at least i,m still out shooting,,love the clays and cant wait to start entering the comps,,all the best,,bobby
dave motoring convictions shouldn't cause a problem anyway .. but if the dvla and the police national computer had no trace i would have left it off .. thats all they will use along with a CRB check .. it is a bit weird how they judge things sometimes .. assault charge (criminal record) may not go against you but an history of depression could … just never know really …each forces website should have guidelines on them on what is acceptable and what isn't … i got told if u show u are serious about the sport and can prove this (proof of having lessons etc) then it will go a long way with the interview process … along the lines of showing your intent of doing things correct though don't know how much this actually helps . when i applied the brother - in - law applied at the same time .. mine took 4 weeks his took 3 months .. go figure .. both with same pre-training (as such)Hi Bobby, I would have applied months ago but I was trying to get details of motoring convictions from 40 years ago. Dave.
Well, I sent my application in a month ago now. I got a letter outlining the process about two weeks later, just seems such a long time to have to wait.dave motoring convictions shouldn't cause a problem anyway .. but if the dvla and the police national computer had no trace i would have left it off .. thats all they will use along with a CRB check .. it is a bit weird how they judge things sometimes .. assault charge (criminal record) may not go against you but an history of depression could … just never know really …each forces website should have guidelines on them on what is acceptable and what isn't … i got told if u show u are serious about the sport and can prove this (proof of having lessons etc) then it will go a long way with the interview process … along the lines of showing your intent of doing things correct though don't know how much this actually helps . when i applied the brother - in - law applied at the same time .. mine took 4 weeks his took 3 months .. go figure .. both with same pre-training (as such)
I only want to shoot clays, I havent done enough to have a preferance yet. I enjoy the lessons but they are only an hour about every three weeks or so. I have been researching guns, I went to the open day at NWSS and tried the Browning B725 and a new Beretta, 686e I think. Anyway, I liked the B725 right away, it felt just right. I also entered a small competition, 30 shots over 5 stands. My trainer had to be with me of course, he advised me to shoot from the mounted position as the targets would be much faster than I am used to. I tried that but found that I was not seeing the clays until it was too late, so I only managed to hit 4. However, I enjoyed it and I think that had I shot from the gun down position, I may well have hit more. I have found from very early on, that I score better if I see the target and then mount the gun, follow it and shoot. I intend to book an hour this week as I have a long weekend booked.pass the time by researching gun's , cartridge's etc. What discipline are you going to shoot?
No, it's just me. I remember a friend of mine asking me if I wanted to get involved once, but I have lost touch. His name is William Barney in case anyone knows him. Come to think of it, I could try to look him up, would be nice to get back in touch.dave … do u not know a shooter who can take u to a ground in the mean time ??
Well would you believe it, I just got a call. Interview on Monday.......I applied for my SGC about three weeks ago and got an interview last week. Avon and Somerset will be handling my application. They said it will take a month to process, so just waiting now.
It helped that I was getting instruction from Ian Coley's, and had shot at Bristol Clay Shooting, the FLO knew people at both places and said it indicated I was serious about the sport and would have been taught how to handle the gun etc.
My lessons are currently the only way I can shoot, like you, and can't wait to get my licence do I can get going by myself.
Hope it doesn't take too long for you.
