:fie:  You ain't going to get a Browning,Miroku or a Beretta for £500-£600 sovs unless its a piece of poop!
Been offered two 3800s in the last six months with 20years left in them for that money was also offered a mint mk38 gd5 for a grand so they are there if your in the know.. :prankster:

Well Shaun, You are a better man than me!  I would have said that the grade 5 must be stolen?

Old winchester or nikko are options in that price bracket. 50 quid will get it tightened 30 for diy stock finishing kit and hey presto as good as new gun.
And if you can find a winchester 101 especially a 5500 or 6500 you will get your money back when you sell it and possibly make a small profit.

I remember the old 800's, aren't they the ones with V springs? If so it could be a good idea to get them checked out and get a source for replacements, I know at one point they were getting a bit hard to come by.
Very early ones had V springs my 33xxx serial number S skeet gun had coils.

Not stolen sold between two people I know was very cheap and only found out when asked what I should expect for my gd5 sporter .

Yes Shaun, when you are selling a grade 5 is worth a grand, when you are buying its nearer £1750!

Cyril I have a 1991 3800 grd 3 in pristine condition, but I have no idea what it's worth, someone did mention a figure of £1250 last year, would that sound right?

Ha! sure did knock the wind out my sails but I must say over the years I have found guns can go up and down in value depending on whats about

sound my mint 682 gold e about three years ago for £1200 and that was a struggle however now your hard pushed to find a nice one for that.

My problem is once I get bored of something it has to go and usually cheaper and cheaper as the weeks go on

Hope your not reading this Madmillie :spiteful:

You are spot on there guru, at the end of the day dealers will tell you they only make £50 on a gun ( yeah right )

We all know your only paying for the wood, and really the wood is just a handle

Some of the best shots I know use grade 1's

My advise would be to buy private, through the grapevine and take somebody with you who knows what to look for

Mr. Graham Stirzaker & Kevin Mayor find that Miroku Grade 1's are perfectly adequate. Graham's is over 20 years old (and possibly nearer 30?) but still does the job.

. Nowhere near that Les closer to £500 I will buy it off you now CASH

great bit of kit Les!! Would love to see it, funny I look at loads of guns, but the 3800 really grabs my attention!!
If you ever get to Southern Counties I will let you try it out mate. The wood is a nice bit of dark fiddle back and it changes according to the light, nice engraving too.

Is that right? Maybe I should stick with mine as it seems I'm in good company...
