I reckon it was a good choice, my Ayands, is 40 plus, it is still going strong with only 2 firing pins being replaced in that time. The parts for your N0. 4 are still readily available and not beyond the realms of an average gunsmith to fit. The wood can be done by yourself, they never fitted decent wood to any AyA, unless specified at time of new purchase, so do not expect to end up with an exhibition stock but it will have an oil finish unless someone has varnished it. I would get some 28gram Fiochi fibre wad 6's from St Helens, these will kill all that you are likely to encounter (unless they resemble Starlings !) without undue recoil. Practice gunmounting at home, pushing the safe off as the gun is coming to shoulder. Keep your left hand fingers away from the top of the barrels, in fact try pointing your leading hand index finger along the underside rib, under the barrels. Remember the forend wood is only to stop the barrels from dropping off, you do not HAVE to hold the wood. If you need a slip on recoil pad, or a stick on comb raiser, I have both that you can use, anything else 'slip on' try your local barber ! Can I suggest that you try pulling the back (left barrel ) trigger first and then go to the front trigger (right barrel) this could just avoid plucking the bird with your second shot, should you need both barrels
. Of course, if in doubt just pull any bloody trigger and remember to ask the picker up "Did you get that last one " ? Perhaps a trip to NWSS is on the cards, just remember when you drop that token in, your there for 25 ! Start on the lower tower and then move on to the high tower. Should you need a cartridge bag, thumb stick, cartridge magnet picky up thing or a shooting stick (remember, leather end up !), contact me. Having read, marked, learned and inwardly digested all of this, get out there and enjoy yourself, you know that you deserve it !
