Side events at Majors

After travelling down to the Worlds last year, and looking at making a trip to America in the future to shoot the Worlds it left me wondering - should we have side events?

I personally would struggle to support a week of shooting but I left the Worlds last year wondering why there wasn't anything to do all day! I was down there from Saturday Am until Sunday for the Final - I could and would had spent all my spare time shooting Pool shoots, Teal challenges and Rabbit manias!. Which would have made it more of an event for me.

I appreciate the location last year wouldn't allow any shooting on site other than the Major event which I thought was bizarre but I couldn't even spend money on Sunday at EJC as it's shut.

To raise the profile and "event" feeling of the bigger shoots could these start to be introduced?

Interesting to see what some ground owners think as I don't know if it is easy or worth doing.

I will be taking 100 plus extra cartridges for the Pool at the Essex Masters to ensure lunch isn't to long !

When in Rome and all that.

totally agree on this when i go out shooting for a day thats what i want to do is shoot .

last year we did , the clasic sporting , british open and the gold cup as were the bigger sporting events at all these i ran the white gold challenge with at least one more pool shoot running alongside as space on the ground allowed me to .

this year we are doing even more major events and as a minimum will have pool shoots as above with new ideas and formats being employed , so dont worry plenty to shoot at

I enjoyed your events last year and never felt I was short of shooting at any of then, which was great.

Good example this year for me is the English it's a 5 hr drive plus a night over, with this in mind if I knew I was getting some unique events and something a bit different alongside the main event then it helps me justify the time and expense of going.

Flash clay prizes in the pool shoot anyone! A great way for cartridge suppliers to get their product our there and this could run along side the normal format. So get a slab of "sponsors" cartridges every time a flash clay is broke and ask for all cartridges manufacturers to input and we all benefit, they get their product out and we might just get a lucky break and go home happier !

I can inform that at the English Open Sporting this year there is 100 bird Compak side event with a gun to be won each day plus other prizes & another pool shoot running too !!
