Just changed my mind about Blue Diamond. The latest batch I've bought are quite punchy, like shooting Super Comps, nowhere near as smooth as White Gold. Have they changed the formula? I used to use them all the time when they had 8mm heads and don't recall excess recoil. Down range performance remains excellent though.

I only used them a few years ago and found them punchy..

I have rarely used White Golds but unless they have changed the recipe they can be called a lot of good things but smooth isn't one of them.

Recoil is very personal, what one shooter finds smooth others feel punchy, you also need to find a shell that suits your barrels as not all shells will, so a shell that is smooth in your mind, suits your barrels and fits your budget...

When;t in  2 fishing shop 2 day had look round and said are these any good 4 catching fish , H :nyam:   :nyam:  e said NO they are 4 catching FISHERMEN.

Just to throw a spanner in the works I use black gold 8s for everything with half chokes for sporting and three quarters for Fitasc . The big battue on peg three vanished when I hit it first barrel but and a big but my son Harry also hit it first shot using gamebore Evo 8s and mr wylye was witness to it happening so I think there is to much talk about carts , find one you are happy with and stick to it , my advise anyway

Steve

mine go bang and break clays ......some times as good as any other cartridge ? what else do you need ? Got some new pretty FOB world 28's coming just to see if the different colour case and shiny brass add a few more to my scores and if the are worth the extra tenner ??

still think it's about putting it in the right place ......and not what you can afford ? in my early days I won plenty with Baikal records ..flames and all haha

Here's how is see it.. for shooters in lets say C/B class who shoot once a week for fun any shell will do because the targets lost will be down to many things but nothing to do with the cartridge choice so save your pennies on shells and put it towards lessons But things change at the top end AAA shooters because they know where to put the shot on almost any target they encounter through years of knowledge most shoot well fitted guns and  most can tell what each cartridge offers performance wise they usually pick a shell that suits their style of shooting and this is where I believe the more expensive cartridges come into play its all about consistency. :nyam:

I normally purchase a good mid range cartridge paying approx £175 - £180 per thousand (RC2 & now Fiocchi FBlack) that being said I will occasionally buy a slab of the cheapest shells available. I will use these for those target's that are very close whether these are overheads, incoming or close crosses. I don't really see the point in wasting a better quality cartridge on those close dustbin lids that I am 100% confident in hitting, also saves me a few quid during the Year.

Simple question for the GAMEBORE shooter.

It would have to be wouldn't it?

Do they also listen to 'Simple Minds'

Are the going to the Pantomime 'Simple Simon'

Ooops sorry that's three questions . Choose the easiest. Discuss.

Have never said I could shoot any better than that, so I'm quite happy to wear any hat that gives you a sad little lift in your life.

As we all know, you are usually at your happiest when putting somebody down !
