This thread has given me a great idea for a competition on the site... I shall have a think about that as I travel home tomorrow...

Sounds like a good idea, however I don't think anyone else on here lives anywhere near me! :(
Nice place though - Dorset, perhaps an organised weekend then with some local B & B with a trip to a local shoot?

Without wishing to pour cold water on a good idea, I think this has been tried in the past. For a variety of reasons it never gathered any momentum. I think the principal problem was the diversity of shooters involved. Trap shooters didn't want to listen to sporting tales, sporting shooters didn't want to listen to skeet tales and so on.

Oddly, it seems although we're united by a common interest we're poles apart.
I think that has been the case to a great degree in the past, what I am hoping is now - that we have matured a bit and can all join in, I remember years ago the Staffordshire team having an 'Inter discipline' challenge that was based on a shoop containing sporting, DTL, double rise and skeet targets, the fluffy rabbits was good and it was always an enjoyable day, most of the shooters stayed well after the end of the shoot. Perhaps this could be a way forward...

Same here Les, no members for

Same here Les, no members for miles.

Many years ago, after inter-club shoots it was off down the most local pub for some grub+pint, and a reflection of the shoot, plus putting the world to rights.

Sadly this is now down to tea+cake afterwards if your lucky? How times have changed!
Be nice to change the times again though...

How about I look into some venues where we could possibly get together for a 'curry n pint' or simillar and try and get some diary dates?

Just need to start the ball rolling with some suggestions from interested parties of how far they will travel realistically for an evening and when, say end of Nov ish?

If people live in a 'no members nearby zone' then perhaps we could organise a weekend bash with a nearby B & B and go to a local shoot.

any idea's will help, I'm from the Stafford area but happy to go to Brum or Stoke way say 30 miles or so for a bash, wives, partners, bits on the side all welcome - or not - up to the masses really.

I realise that no-one wants to drink and drive but if we get this right we could rotate it so that we visit somewhere near each shooter so at some point we can enjoy a tipple or more, or try and get a few together and car share.

as a suggestion once a month sounds about right, but again open to suggestions really, hey if it falls on it's arse (fluffy or not) at least we tried!

all the best, Growl.

Lesthis is fun, cant wait to find another word that the site Will change automatically for us. .

On Pigeonwatch Scunthorpe appears as 'S****horpe, pathetic isn't it.

Gawd knows what it would make of 'fluffy rabbits'

I love fluffy rabbits-------in a pie with some nice gravy and some veg !!

Back to the get together thing, we have a group of retired gentleman,(knackered old farts) that get together on most Wednesdays at Orston or Kibworth.

We are the Wednesday Old Gits Shooting Club (WOGSC).

The shooting is serious,Sporting or Sportrap but the nosh and fluffy rabbits is good stuff too.

Vic.

So, back to the sociability side (fluffy bunnies ignored, but not locked!) does anyone fancy a few brews somewhere in the midlands over Christmas???

we could talk shoots, bunnies or brews, not bothered, Stafford, Stoke, Birmingham, Stone????? anywhere that is a reasonable travel to attract the most members really, maybe a good curry to finish, be good if wherever suggested is on a decent rail network so we could have one more for the road and keep our licences, just a thought, Growl.... :)

Birmingham is fine with me, some great curry spots - the Grove at Handsworth Wood being one, happy for any suggestions really, maybe some better boozers nearer to the centre come to think about it, and easier to get home from...

Yeah your better off staying in town TBH, Mailbox, Brindley Place etc, all great drinking spots and loads of places to eat too.

I still think a team meet-up is a good idea - regardless of how off-topic this thread gets, or how many times 'B-A-N-T-E-R' gets mentioned, or whether or not Scunthrope makes an appearance. Or do I need to G-oogle it? ;)
