Off to Southdown for the first time in the morning.  Any cartridge restrictions?  Plastics OK?

Cheers both.  28g plastic Power Blues can now be loaded into the bag ready for the morning.

7's to 9's & you'll be fine..........enjoy :dancer:

Can never be bothered messing about with different shot size.  Not good enough for it to make any difference.

9's in the left 7's in the right (pockets not barrels) 90% of southdown will only need 9's.........not like the old days!

Enjoy - hope weather is decent for you.
It was very pleasant.  Down to skeet vest and a polo shirt at one point.

Enjoyed the targets too.  From what I'd heard about it in the past I was expecting everything to be further out than it was.

That must have pleased the refs  - I thought trousers or shorts were compulsory

Claymate system, no refs or trappers - no witnesses.  Just as well, they might have thought it was another eclipse.

I like Southdown a lot........Bob's doing a grand job down there. It can't be easy at times, from top to bottom the ground is huge. I was  recently told that there is actually no mains electric, don't know if that's true or not........all them batteries to charge!

The wooden gun racks are an awful design & the metal cross bars on the pool shoot cages.........I like to rest the my gun on them whilst others are shooting but metal to metal ain't good. Foam pipe wrap is a quick and easy fix.

Just wish the high driven from the cherry pickers that Dave P used to throw were back in action.

I do hope that the English or British Open return there in the not too distant future.

I thought it was a good set-up.  A few too many going away targets maybe, but even those had a bit of variety to them.  One of them was quartering slightly from left to right and following the ground up the bank before dipping over the top.  Had some good loopers on as well.  Enjoyed it so much that we did a hundred, stopped for something to eat and then decided to have another forty before heading home. Pleased with the 111 from 140, lets me know that I'm getting comfy with the new gun even though it's a lot heavier than what I was shooting before.

I enjoyed the shooting with Bebo today. It's a lovely setting and there were no targets I blanked. Even hit some rabbits for the first time since moving to my new high rib sporter.

My only gripe, and it's a minor gripe, is that we had 4 stands where the traps dicked about. One stand only one of our team got to shoot before it packed up.

Southdown is home of the loopers............

Unfortunately the occasional dodgy trap is their downfall. Its not Bobs fault just under investment from the ground owners.

Bob's clever with his speed and angles...........distance, well just playing a little safe maybe but who could blame him.

Dave P would have no trouble getting 250 entries on a Sunday and some off those targets were out there with visible delays on rabbits and driven. Sportrap and the raised bank to the right of the lane has unfortunately affected the sporting layout big time but enabled Southdown to run a 100 Reg Sportrap alongside a 100 Reg Sporting. How many grounds can offer this combo?

See ya Bank Holiday Monday Southdown

Totally agree with Simbo. The location is truly stunning and Bob is trying hard to shake it up. I really hope he succeeds! When you are down to your skeet vest and polo shirt, there is no better place to shoot.

As the targets can all be shown as a sim pair makes all the difference as well.
