Can any body help with how to get a sponsorship from a cartridge company eg hull ,gamebore etc has or is anybody been and done some advise would be great

cheers dom

Work hard, get very good, win a lot, get even better, win some more, get in the shooting press a lot, win some more and cross your fingers/pray and maybe you'll get a reasonable deal. Very few top shooters get free cartridges normally just get a decent discount. Your best bet would be to approach a gunshop/dealer and ask them if they would help you out in exchange for lots of free advertising. Good luck

Cheddite have their own scoring system: Cheddite Team. It is italy oriented, however it works internationaly as well. Get in touch with Ed Ling or Malmo guns for details.

Interesting first post?

Welcome to the forum :)

If you are good enough they will come looking for you (assuming you fit all the criteria in Adam's post above).

Don't hold your breath though. There is a big queue in front of you.

How good are you ? I know people who have won the English Open and a few more titles besides who aren't sponsored, to be fair I also know people who have a pair of gloves which makes them feel like they're sponsored   .

They'll come calling when you win big repeatedly, otherwise it's 20% discount and a lovely barrel sticker.

very very few shooters are"truly" sponsored, a minimal discount is more the normal and if its cartridges or guns then your stuffed if you want to have a play with something else. Then there is the corporate stuff you have to attend. I wouldn't bother yourself to much about it just enjoy your shooting.

Post up your CPSA no and lets have a look at your prospects.

I still have a gunslip bought in 1986 from bamfords it still has a leather bamfords label on it. I remind Lawrence of this from time to time and consider this to be free advertising, he continues to give me a great deal on every gun (and there have been at least fifteen bought from him) is this a form of sponsorship ??

That's why he buys a new merc every few years

Lawrence is that tight when he walks he squeaks

I cannot see why he would want be the richest man in the grave yard

All above is good advice.

if you feel you are serious about it, draft a shooting CV outlining your career highlights, explain your plans for the coming season and convey what would make you a good sponsored shooter- what would they be getting out of it regards to promotion and reaching new customers.

it is a business proposition and should be treated as such.

Cartridge and gun manufacturers receive dozens of emails a week so you really need to be able to put forward a strong case and stand out from the crowd. Expect to start at the lower end of the scale and if you do well for them they will increase your deal over time to reflect that.

Cheers for the advise I am looking for a route in the future as I only shoot English sporting they'd not that many registered events up north first ones at Bywell in April so will be doing that which will be my first registered shoot just because I I have competed in local competition so for but all info helps so thanks again much appreciated I understand it if left to a select few but why not have a go!

As above

Support from manufacturers should be mutually beneficial.

The game needs to be more commercial and hopefully the main players in cartridges and guns see it that way.

I run the social media sites for a few linked manufacturers and get messages all the time that leave a lot to be desired.

I would advise a letter detailing what you can add to their company with an attached shooting CV as Ed describes above.

Dom,

May I suggest that you consider obtaining assistance from your local community to start with?

In the real context , cartridge cost is a very small part of your shoot expenditure.

Perhaps try to find local businesses that will get exposure from you to promote them in return for assistance in paying your entry fees and travel costs which are a far greater cost than cartridges and guns.

And Gamebore this year - remembering that there was quite a high level of commitment to even be considered.

Good luck with your quest.... but certainly be eloquent, well presented, well behaved, score well, be consistent and make sure you have something to really offer back than space on your shooting vest.
