Seemed to be the one that was giving lots of people headaches!

Spoiled what would have been a very good card for me.

Still a lovely morning out, sunshine and mild breeze. Even had to take off my jumper!

I found the whole shoot to be very edge on and tricky today. When I left at 2pm only a 94 was in and a massive entry. I took my wife along for a rare appearance, telling her it was a soft shoot. She was scowling at me half way round..

Stand 9 was the sim l-r edge on crossers? Yes the scorer reported only 3 straights at 1pm. I mashed the first pair then must have slowed up a touch and missed the next pair! 6 ex 10. The first target was the one on the left for me, which needed a bit of lead. The second one needed about a foot bottom right as I saw it.

If you shot the left one first the second bird was dropping quite quickly. Lots of head scratching going on including me.

Thank heavens others found it challenging, I thought it was just me and my raging hangover that found it tricky.

Not nice fell apart on quite a few and what is that one all about straight the first 3 pears and miss the last two a another day in paradise

My 80 year old mom walked round with me ( desperate to 'have a go' ! ) I skipped around the stands ( no not THAT type of skipping ) and 9 was done fairly early. After watching that one she threatened to send me to bed without any dinner!

Not happy I missed the shoot but happy they seem to have put targets that need a bit of savvy to hit !

People seem to read what's said on here :)   ;)  and it's not just making clays harder to see and hit for the sake of it but they need to start making each and every stand at least a little different from the previous shoot.

You could get away with 5 samey stands off hand traps 30 years ago when everyone pitched in and set their local straw baler up but not these days when you're charging close to £40 quid for the privilege.

Yes, let's be clear. Level of scores was fine at Horne yesterday. Slightly tougher than normal. Good. But wow, they really did have so many variations on a theme. Quartering birds were 80% of it. I think I saw full face on 2 targets. I was becoming quite desperate to see a long looper..

GD and Mark Marshall tied HG on 95.

I didn't go this time, but was this the stand at the top of the field, just before the 2nd set of woods?

They seem to have had this pair of high, tricky targets for a bit now...is it the same target as the last couple of shoots...launched off the tower, left to right... Will?

It think the last time I went there was a similar target to one of this sim pair, but with a teal on report.

yup, That's the one. Sim pair with about 1/2 meter between them and going quickly up and away, edge on.

I think that is the one that GD dropped 2 on (the only two) a couple of months back.

I found, that the trick was to watch it leave the tower and shoot them quick (front first) needs good 4-5 feet of lead and the second target would be shot almost in front of you.  Many people were leaving it late, and trying to shoot it as it dropped down the field.

I think last time I was there I did well on that stand.  Not relevant but a moment of happiness nevertheless.

I don't know if my post came across a bit negative..... but honestly i think it's a positive thing the place drives me nuts last time I shot there someone had the imagination to put the trap 2 ft to the right of the shooter and launch a teal like clay!! when I asked where's the second target I got there isn't one 10 of them thats it! then I shot the next stand  working backwards = stand 1 springing teals wow some variation there!

I always feel that on either stand 1 or stand 10 (in the woods) they could stick on a really big old battue.

Lack of enough automatic traps, Keston suffers from the same which is a shame, some mates who went to the latter said they'll never go back as just couldn't see the point of it.
